Hi,
I am trying to install a war file into WebSphere 4.0 AES. I get the following error -"Exception:
com.ibm.etools.archive.exception.NotSupportedException: Type is unrecognized or not yet supported: PUBLIC_ID=-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN;SYSTEM_ID=http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd".
I have this DTD defined in WEB-INF/web.xml file. What do i need to get it to work on WEbsphere 4.0 ?
Thanx,
Vijay

Your doctype tag looks a bit different than mine.
Mine looks like this:
<!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.2//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">

Also, make sure the box that runs ur WAS AEs is
hooked onto the internet. If thats not possible
and if you use NT or Win2000 try the loopback solution.

HTH,
PJ

What is happening is that you are trying to deploy a Servlet 2.3 web app into WebSphere 4.0. That won't work -- we only support the Servlet 2.2 spec. Servlet 2.3 will come in WebSphere 5.0.

I am trying to deploy Servlet 2.3 web app into WSAD 5.1 and I get exactly the same exception:
