How can I change ASCII graphics to my own graphics on my 2D roguelike dungeon game using Notepad++ with Java?

The 6 is the player showing how many lives there are
The # is walls
the . is the floor
and the e is an enemy

I was wondering how I could replace these with images

Do you want to use Graphics? If not then try to find some suitable Unicode characters that look like what you want. And that your Console supports these characters.

If you want to use Graphics, running in some JFrame, then you can define some sprites for enemy, player, and floor, for instance with Windows Paint. Then you can use these images to draw them in your JFrame, at the correct places. But that will be quite a story.

And perhaps it is possible to draw images in the form of, say, bmp, directly to a Console. But I don't know if, and if so, how, that is possible.
