Will we  have the new version of Head First Java anytime soon or there are no current plans to make the new version that covers the new version of Java?

Try Deitel's Java - how to program, early objects. Its not like HF, but pretty close. IMO, dry, text heavy books like thinking in Java <= that book <= cartoonish books like HF.
