I am planning to open my first online store on Magento 2, and  I just want to make sure that I am on the right way and won't do the mistake with the platform choice.
What do you think about that?

You have told us absolutely nothing about your application so it's near impossible to offer any reasonable advice.

I've never used Magento so have little to offer on that topic other than to say I know people who love it, but we also get a lot of spam on this forum about it, so I have mixed feelings for it.

I have been working with Magento for 5 years, so I can only advise you one thing: if your business is going to grow and grow bigger then you made the right choice with Magento 2, if not then go to another platform, that is cheaper.
So choose the best option for you!
