We had a social engineering "incident" this week with the book promo.
The author (Dylan Shields) noticed that another user had registered as "D Shields", uploaded a picture of the book as his avatar and started answering questions about AWS/the book. He even noted the person was quoting his book in the answers. I deleted the "D Shields" user as a spammer. This had the effect of deleting a few replies. I copy/pasted those replies along with a comment about a technical issue. (The "technical issue" is that deleting a spammer's account delete's their posts leaving replies to it looking silly).
The *real* Dylan Shields held off on posting while we dealt with this. I expect to see him today. Thank you to Dylan for both reporting this and being patient with us.
We will be changing the process for authors in a promotion so this would be immediately noticed if it happens again.
