As of version 5 (actually version 4, but let's not quibble), WebSphere became almost entirely defined by the J2EE deployment model. The easiest way to deploy a servlet is to wrap it in an EAR file.
Are you using an IDE that supports the creation of EAR files, such as WDSC (WebSphere Development Studio Client)? If not, you can still deploy servlets in WAR files.
Can you give me a little more information as to what you are trying to do? I may be able to give you better advice or steer you to some better documentation.

Thanks a lot Joe, I am actually in the process of learning websphere.. So not very familier with a lot of issues. This is what I need help with :
I downloaded Websphere5 but could not find a good article that will help me through the installation , I need help with that - working on Windows 2000.
I know how to run servlets in tomcat want to learn to run it in Websphere So need links and tips on that.
I'm just a beginner so not very familier with the new terms... So would you please direct me based on that.
Again Java Ranch is a wonderful place for beginners like me. It did help me with my SCJP and here I'm taking the next step. Gives me a lot of inspiration.I really appreciate your effort. Thanks again Joe

There is a good redbook on IBM 's website : http://redbooks.ibm.com
It will help you install and deploy apps on WAS.
