    Hi,

I am trying to register for this but this does not work.

When I click on the button to activate the learning path and I accept the conditions I get redirected to a page with:

There are no subscriptions in your library.

    How do we subscribe ?

Using the button 'Activate your free learning subscription' here does not work:

For some reason even people from English speaking countries are getting the J version of the exam in this offer!

I don't think this is the Japanese version, that would be 1Z0-819-JPN (following their 815/816 naming).  My guess is this is just the English version with the "J" meant to denote Java's 25th anniversary.  PearsonVue lists both the 1Z0-819 ($245) and 1Z0-819-J ($25) so my guess is they just listed this exam twice with different prices.

Hello Scott and Jeane, I was reading your book to take the 1Z0-819 exam, now I see that the exam is "1Z0-819-J", do you know if the difficulty/content of this test will change for this anniversary version "-J"?
    Thank you!

    Henry,
    Welcome to CodeRanch!

The -J stands for "Java 25 means this exam costs $25". As Scott noted, it is the same exam content

Do you guys think it's possible to study enough to pass this exam in 2 months? I mean, does it seem possible studying around 2 - 3 hours/day? If not what frequency would be recommended in this period? Thank you

Depends how much experience you have to start with.  It’s not a lot of time but for $25, it’s not a lot to lose either!

Yes, you're right, worths the try.
I'll keep reading your book, I'm just in doubt now how I can take advantage of their prep material also (along with the book), I mean, they're also providing the course "Java SE 11 Developer OCP - Java 25 Years" for free until April 25, maybe I can read all the book and check the videos later or do both in parallel ... any suggestions?

    Henry,
Different people have different learning styles. So try both for the early material and see what works for you! Then you can focus more on that and use the other for review.

    Hi,
is it required to take the Oracle Certified Associate (JAVA SE 8) exam before taking this one?

As I've checked the topics for this exam, I realized they cover very basic issues (loops, value types, etc.) as well.

    Thanks, Izabella

    Hi Jeanne,
I had complete Java 8 OCA exam last year and just about to start the OCP exam.
Would you recommend to take the new Java SE 11 exam directly or stick with Java 8 OCP?

Izabella : No. There are no pre-reqs for the 819 exam.

Enzo: THere's no right answer to that. It's going to be easier to pass the Java 8 OCP. But it gives you an earlier version of the cert. I think it depends how long you think it will take you to study.

Good question, I was also questioning that and for me it is way too short. It's highly personal depended.

In OGSM (Objective, Goal, Strategy and Measurements) term.

My objective is to become a decent software engineer.
My goal is to become a better programmer. (Software Engineering is so much more than just programming.)
My strategy is to take learn and practise Java.
    - MOOC of Univsersity Helskini
    - Official Oracle Documentation
    - Jean and Scotts complete guide
My measurement shall be the 1Z0-819 certificate.
    - concrete measurable deliverable is the certificate.

My estimated timespan is 2 years. Yes, 2 years, I'll take it nice and slowly.

Back to your question. I take this opportunity as a 'practise' exam, ironically.

    Hi all,

I was checking out the course related to this offer on the oracle university (Java 25th Anniversary Learning Subscription - Course : Java SE 11: Programming Complete)
In the fourth video called "Practice 1-1: Verify the JDK Installation, the instructor mentions a pdf with practice assignments. I can not find this file anywhere and I would really like this file to follow along. I do see the student guide, but this was not helpful.

Has anyone had more luck locating this file? If so, please let me know how / where to get it. Thanks.

(edited: to provide more clarity to which course these videos belong to)

In case anyone else is wondering. I have contacted Oracle support and they notified me that the PDF file is not offered with this offer.

"You can refer to practice videos to learn how the Practices are performed, and use them to perform practices on your local systems if you wish to do so. The Practices videos cover all practices, and all steps in those practices.
PDFs and lab scripts are not included, just the recordings of the demos."

    Hey!

Does anybody know what happens if I fail the exam - will I still be able to schedule next exam for 25$?
Let's say I try to take the exam next week and fail. I have more than a month to re-study and be able to take the exam before April 25. Is it possible though or is it one time offer?

Is there a reason why the java 25 edition badge is silver while all other java professional certification badges are gold?

Is it said how many of the answers are correct on the real exam? As it is on enthuware tests for example.

So, if I have Java 8 OCP - it's not proper to pass Upgrade exam now. It costs 245$
I can just pass 819-J exam for 25$
Am I right? I'd got the same Java 11 developer badge?
    Thanks for reply
