I think it worked because I don't have any left (reminds me of my Grandmother always offering us food that was about to expire, but that is another story.)
I am writing this because I got a "Stupid Error" upon doing so.
It was either due to an excessively verbose accompanying note, or because of some bug that occurs when doing pie-giving post-processing if the count went down to zero.
If it is the first, I am shocked, but just letting people know in case it was a "Last Piece of Pie"-specific bug.
My browser is up-to-date Google Chrome without any fancy, interesting or unusual configurations selected.
No other problems seen with the website in weeks of heavy constant use/abuse, pretty impressive!

Were you using the feature to give pie to somebody as part of a post, or were you using the feature to give pie to a user directly (no particular post)?
I just granted one of the two slices of Pie in my account to the same person "for"/associated with the very same post in the very same topic in the very same forum.
Two differences from before.
1. I wrote them a somewhat long message the first time, made it really short the second time.
2. My pie count went from 2 to 1 this time, but from 1 to 0 earlier when it failed.
I'll try giving away my last slice with a short message, now...
That one worked too. I should have taken a picture of the error or cut-and-paste the text.
It seems either to be a total fluke or whatever gets tripped when someone sends an overly long thank-you note with the pie give-away doesn't go well.
Since I came from a C/C++ background, I am considering that the overly-long message detector could work well up to some point, then be overwhelmed and fail itself, that seems rather unlikely here.
