Could someone enlighten me on how Websphere determines which name server to register the EJB Home object JNDI Names with. Is it app server specific, part of the EJB deployment descriptor, or any other descriptor???
Can I configure an EJB deployment so that these names are registered with a name server I have started outside of Websphere.
I've found an option on the Admin Console under Server Components which allows you to set the name of the name server is this related? As usual the IBM help just says enter the name of the name server!!!
TIA Graham

The short answer is WebSphere does not support external name servers. It always assumes you're using the federated name service for WebSphere. This is described in my book, or in Tim Francis' book on WebSphere -- but it's pretty complicated.

Thanks Kyle,
A reply in the negative is just as enlightening!
