Hi,

Am using websphere's security framework with struts in my application with LDAP. Am using the form-based authentication in my application. Am facing a problem when the session timeout happens in my application.

When am trying to access an URL without authentication it redirects me to login.jsp. When i give the username and password it takes me back to the URL which i gave before on successful authentication.
When am in the 4th page of my application and when the session timesout it comes back to login.jsp. And when i give the user name and password it goes back to the 4th page itself that is the page from which the session got timedout. But i want to go to the first page of my application.

So is there a way to specify successful login page in the login.jsp or in any other config files. That is from login.jsp if i give a valid user name and password it should always go to the first page of my application.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
ram.

Ram,
Welcome to JavaRanch!

One alternative is to have your application redirect if the session doesn't contain a certain object.

Hi Jeanne,

Thanks for your reply. Actually the problem here is when there is no session existing(on account of session expiry) then i should redirect to login page which is working fine.(Through form-based authentication of websphere). But after logging out if i give the username and password it should take me back to the initial search page(first page of the application) and not to the page from which the session timout has happened.

I cannot check for existence of a particular object in the session as you have said since my session itself will not be there.

thanks
Ram.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
