Not sure from where you're starting. If you need MQ details then no better place than IBM
WebSphere MQ V6 Fundamentals
If you're looking for JMS programming, go to SUN
The Java Message Service API

When it comes to WebSphere MQ there's (almost) no such thing as an initial tutorial. First you must understand the basic concept of message oriented middleware and the way it's implemented in WMQ.

First you should take a look at this document:
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/redp0021.html (MQ Series Primer)

After this book you can consult "WebSphere MQUsing Java Version 6.0"
http://www.elink.ibmlink.ibm.com/publications/servlet/pbi.wss?CTY=US&FNC=SRX&PBL=SC34659102

And THE place to look when you have questions regarding WMQ and Java programming:
http://www.mqseries.net and
http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=12

I hope you have now a clear vision of what is MQ and what is WMB...

I know this is an old post, but it might help someone who gets in here looking for a tutorial/training/course on IBM MQ (formerly known as Websphere MQ or MQSERIES): try-out the course on IBM MQ Administration at http://www.mq-academy.com . Hope it helps.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
