Dear Rancheros,

I'm in the process of setting up a dev. env. for WAS Portal 6.1
My team would be pleased to use Eclipse.

We had many issues with development on the WAS Portal 5 already and we want to work in a more "agile" way, at least having the tooling that supports it.

Does someone experienced a setup where it's possible to write/edit/test code without waiting ages between each iteration. This is so important when you have to write quite complex and sexy interactions on the presentation layer.

Regards,

Serge.

I'd suggest you use Rational Application Developer (RAD) since it has tools developed specifically for working with WAS Portal 6.1.

My suggestion is that you need to stop looking since you will never find the best IDE for portal anywhere. RAD is one of the best in the business, but it has its own problems. There will be times when you will go crazy, but thats what working in portal is all about.

Thanks.

We are trying to avoid the RAD high price tag since, until now, RAD never provided the promised added value while it brings limitations when you want to use a recent Eclipse plugin.

Why portal dev makes you crazy?

Agility is an impossible goal?

regards,

Serge.
