By the way, there are different frameworks in each version of the IDE.
For example, in the 6.1 there is Hibernate support. How can we know which frameworks are there then ?

I even saw documentation saying that Tapestry is in the IDE, even though I dont remember this.

profiler does not come in depth. They just ask basic difference between heap, VM telem, CPU and memory profiling.

It is very easy exam if you have learnt the basics.

Even though your question is NOT relevant to this thread which is on SCSNI Beta exam, I'm writing a reply here to answer your question. As you already know the available resources for SCMAD are relatively rare and there's no study guide specifically written for SCMAD exam covering all of its objectives. And there are lots of online resources for J2ME but completeness and coverage of some of these online resources with respect to the SCMAD exam are not in a satisfactory level. Therefore I can't recommend any online resource on SCMAD exam. I referred the book Beginning J2ME Novice to Professional-Third Edition for SCMAD exam and that book covers lots of grounds relevant to the exam. So you can compare the SCMAD objectives list with book's content and study only the relevant parts. (For example, the later part of the book covers J2ME Bluetooth : OBEX API, PIM API, etc. and thy aren't exam objectives)

The only online resource I can recommend as it's really useful for the exam is Sathya Srinivasan's Notes. Unfortunately, I can't remember the link and you may get it form SCMAD forum where the link had been published several times. (You can do a search and find it). Also the CLDC, MIDP, WMA, MMAPI APIs provide really useful information. (You may find these APIs in the "docs" folder of wireless toolkit installation). If you wanna get the crystal clear view on each and every aspect of J2ME technologies you should refer the relevant specs..

Hi All

I haven't used the IDE for Web Projects for a year, and I was on 5.5 back then, so a couple of the questions I struggled on there. I think I did OK, probably as well as I had hoped, but probably better had I done more web projects recently. Still if I had done it a year ago, I wouldn't have known much about the basic projects

I have also been using 6.5 for a while now, but I hope that the configuration hasn't changed too much, I didn't think it had. There was one question about compilation and I put a comment that if I were using 6.5 that option C (or whatever it was) would have been correct because of the Save on Compile lol).

Some of the questions whether to change the JDK or the source/byte level I thought were tricky, and obviously in some cases either would have sufficed so it was a judgement call strictly based upon the exact wording of the question. On these I tried to put a comment explaining that both were valid IMO.

I made sure that I made as many constructive comments as I could in during the exam. And I am 98% sure that one of the questions was about Free-Form projects, which I have done little on... however It was a "(Choose two)" yet options C and D had the same images of the "Files" tree. I pointed this out to the test centre and put a long comment.

There were a few questions that I guessed at, mostly the Web and Free Form projects. I know I also got an VCS question wrong too because it was like 2 hours in and my brain was a little fuzzy by then. I also haven't done profiling for about a year, so I am a bit rusty on that too. But I think I did ok, hopefully will pass with a good grade, but I am eager to see


Do we know how many people took it in Beta form?

Did my test yesterday...

Very tiring and many many questions that ask the "same thing". For example, how to change the SDK for development/deployment/compilation. Just one question with a screenshot and very few profiling questions.

Yeah its a pity that takes 6-8 weeks so the result comes out. Does anyone knows what is the passing criteria that they are going to use ? Like 60% ?

Hi,

In my opinion, the question bank they have used for SCSNI-Beta is very limited. When looking at the feedbacks posted by the fellows, we feel that all we have answered to same kind of questions and the pattern is same for everyone. And there were lots of question covering the same topic that made examinees exhaustive as they appeared to be asking same question again and again. I think, Sun decides the passing mark for SCSNI exam based on the SCSNI-Beta exam takers marks. Anyway we have to be patient until they release results.

About my exam:

Some questions are very hard, if you not have experience with Netbeans, you will have problems. The help of Netbeans is very good, but not enough, you must practice, because some questions experience was required.

about the questions:

some questions about CVS and versioning;

some questions about how to change Java platform/ version, how to change the java version for source and run;

very questions how do you share jars between applications. directory for shared libraries etc;

very question how do you debug application(local and remote);

few questions about free form projects;

few questions about plugins and installation;

Few question about GUI editor;

Some question about profiler;

very question about Refactory;

I hope to spend, if God want, now have to await the outcome

until the next...

Any qualified person surely wants to be qualified in the tools they use right? For example, Do you think that surgeons don't have training and certifications for laser eye surgery machines?

I think it's very specific but not deep enough certification.

Specific is not bad, Ph.D. study is about very specific and very in-depth.
But IMO, very specific but not in-depth is not very useful.

It's good if Sun issues NetBeans Platform certification, I think it's more interesting.

I'd still take the results on Prometric with a grain of salt until they appear in Sun's database, but it looks as if the results have been processed.

I received my confirmation by snail mail this afternoon that I did pass. (Baltimore, MD, USA.)

Folks... I have not gotten any notification either by snail mail or by email... But, I was able to login to my Sun Certification Manager account at the following web page (www.certmanager.net/sun/) and see that I had passed in the SCSNI certification...

This is something that you can do as well if you have a Sun Certmgr account.
