I am getting following mesg when i try to lookup jdbc resource ..
"Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial "
I declare jdbc resource in server.xml as follows
<Resource name="jdbc/Loneifso817DS" auth="Container"
type="javax.sql.DataSource"/>

<ResourceParams name="jdbc/Loneifso817DS">
<parameter>
<name>factory</name>
<value>org.apache.commons.dbcp.BasicDataSourceFactory</value>
</parameter>

<value>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</value>

i think i need to specify jndi props
Can somebody pls help me out

Did you specify JNDI in the web.xml file? Anyway, please follow the instructions at:
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html
