Starting tomcat from source code

Is it possible to start tomcat 5.0 from source code in my own program? I want to do this because I want to share classes in the same JVM between my aplication and tomcat without running the application as a servlet.

Is this post somehow related to web services ??
Mayge the Tomcat thread would be a better place, no ?
