Hi,

I am trying to get rid of the thousands of [DEBUG] messages that scroll along the console when I start Tomcat (on Windows, on Linux these get put in catalina_out). I have tried lots of different log4j.properties files but cannot find one that will surpress all [DEBUG] output. Most of the [DEBUG]'s are Digester statements.

I currently have a log4j.properties in common/classes and also in myapp/WEB-INF/lib (i also tried in classes) but whatever I do the [DEBUG]'s remain.

I have pasted my latest attempt at a properties file below.

log4j.rootCategory=WARN, stdout
log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.stdout.layout.ConversionPattern=%5p [%F:%L] -%m%n
log4j.logger.org.apache.struts=WARN

Coul anybody help me to get rid of these [DEBUG]'s, they are driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance

Disable Debug on console

This will help you.

Thanks for your reply. I fixed the problem by creating a commons-logging.properties to go alongside my log4j properties file. This seemed to fix the problem.
