hi,
I loaded Tomcat in to windows 98.I am trying to start the tomcat server but when ever iam clicking on the sart tomcat wone window is opening but again its closing.

I am unable to start the tomacat

any one please solve my problem
Iam using Tomcat 4.1 version

There may be an error message that you don't get to see because the window is closing right away. Try to start Tomcat by doing the following: open a Command Prompt, change into the TOMCAT_HOME/bin directory, and run the start.bat script by typing "start". Even if Tomcat can't be started, there should be an error message.

The key here is

windows 98.


Tomcat uses a HUGE amount of environment variable space - take a look at those bat files to see why.
Anyway, this is a notorious problem with Win98 and Tomcat - you have to increase the default environment space - as I recall the value 4096 worked for me. Try a google search for "tomcat win98 environment problem" to see lots of hits.
