I tried doing an import on a tree of over 100 Java source files and after a while it just stopped on one file. I do not know if it is just a bug in PoseidonUML, the fact I am using the free version (limit on import) or if my machine cannot handle the heaving processing. My workstation generally runs Java decently (Pentium 450Mhz, WinNT, 512mb) so I do not think it is the hardware or the OS/JDK. I am thinking Poseidon is getting messed up.
Has anyone else experienced this? Got any ways to get around it? (Install Java SDK 1.4, etc)
Also, once I have it all imported, how can I get the diagram organized? Part of the way through it just drops each package and class right on top of the other one. It does not distribute them at all. I wish there was some kind of layering feature which would let me drill up and down between packages since it obviously does not work to have 40 layers of packages and classes on one 2D screen.
I want to use this tool, but these 2 issues are going to prevent me from even presenting this to my team.
Thanks for any suggestions you have.
