Responsibilities: Design, develop, implement, document, and maintain large distributed component based applications using the Java framework. Analyze current production database applications and provide equivalent and enhanced feature set in Java. Develop products focused on managing sample workflow and lab information management for drug discovery and development laboratories in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries.
Experience/Education: BS/MS CS or equivalent. Three+ years total GUI application development experience, including Java, Java Bean, Swing, and C++ experience. Application experience should include 3+ years developing front-end applications for relational database systems. Experienced with SQL, embedded sql and JDBC programming. Experience with Oracle, PL/SQL, Developer/2000, Java Servlets, SQLJ, EJB, RMI, JNDI, XML preferred. Experience with biotech applications a definite plus.
Skills: Solid object oriented modeling/design/development skills required. Must be capable of designing and implementing practical relational database applications and large scale middleware applications; must be familiar with tuning principles and techniques for writing efficient, optimized SQL. Must have demonstrated ability to succeed in a large program, team-oriented, product development environment; familiar with code sharing and source control tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
