Hi everybody..
Let me begin by first expressing my gratitude at receiving so many good wishes and tons of encouragement.. I am simple overwhelmed at the response of JavaRanchers towards my post , some of u have been gracious enough to send me congratulatory e-cards and messages.. wish to thank all of u again for all this.. surely feel part of one big JavaRanch family now!
Many of u have asked me to share my experiences and way of study, which I will only be too happy to do. Well, to begin with, I began my preparation for the exam a couple of months ago. I started off with Roberts & Heller, which , IMHO, is an excellent book to begin with. Once I had finished it, I started scourging the net for mock exams and started visiting our very own javaranch regularly. One thing I must mention here is that this site truly is the last word for any aspiring SCJP. At least, I found it to be so. Also, I began reading Bill Brogdens Exam Cram, which you should go for after giving a read to R&H the first time.
I have gained a wealth of information browsing the posts on this site, especially Maha Annas mock exams page. Pls do make it a point to visit all the mock exams given here I came across many subtleties here which I had missed out on while reading R&H. What I used to do was jot down my individual scores and work on my weak sections, which helped me a lot. In the last few days before the exam, I revised the notes I had taken down comprising of all the important points I came across reading the preparatory books and visiting different sites. The day before the D-Day, I went through all the test engines once again(like Jxam, Jquest, Khalid Mughals test engine and any other I found on the net).
About the exam, I faced just one short answer question in which I was reqd to type in the answer , and no I didnt use quotes. All the other ques had single-choice or multiple-choice answers. I had about 8 questions on threads and the same no on iava.io. The rest was a fair sprinkling of other topics, specially overloading and overriding.
I hope I have answered all your queries, but in case I havent, you are welcome to mail me.
Thanx again to all you guys .. a big one to Cindy, your quotes straight from the JLS bailed me out several times.. :-).. and Neeraj, I dont plan to give SCJD in the near future because I am preparing for my MCA exams. .hope to give it sometime though.. especially with all the encouragement that has come my way lately.. :-)
Regards,
