Hi All,
I cleared the SCWCD with 78% marks today. Thanks Bryan, Kathy and Bert for a great great book. I did the exam pretty quickly (in 45 mins) the first 20 questions were tough but afterwards i glided from question 20-70, my Custom Tags were weak (well i didnt study the chapter much) so i got a low score there but otherwise all sections were 80+.

Thanks all at Javaranch for ur support.

Thanks,
Rocky

Hi Guys,
Can i set up multiple realms in tomcat such that one application (in webapp) authenticates from one realm and another from other realm?

Thanks,

Thanks guys, seems that much motivation would do it for me, although i have done JSTL, custom tags seemed a long shot to me but anyways i will do it now.

Thanks,
Rocky
Hi Guys,
i need some advice. i passed SCJP in July and i wanted to do SCWCD asap, because i already do a lot of jsp/servlet coding. I have not done Custom Tag Development much and really dont see applying it in the future. While i want to remain motivated it is difficult to study a thing which one feels has low application in professional life.
So all in all can i skip the chapter on custom tag development ?? (
How many questions come from this topic...is it scoring .... i really need help and motivation on this ....

Thanks all,
Rocky

Hi,
I think i know the answer to the second one. It is because the variable is static the variable belongs to the class and not to the object so the variable value is what you assign to it last, which is 20.

Am i right javaranch?

Thanks,
Rocky
Hi Sherry,
You seem to be in a tough situation. In your case i would say that it is best to read a book like "Exam Cram" by Billy Brodgen and do a lot of mock tests (3-4 a day) then identify where you have scored less and then clear your concepts as each day passes ... hopefully in a month you will be ready for the exam and should get a decent score too.

Hope this helps
Rocky
Thanks everyone,
actually i understood the concept but wanted to throughly undersatnd the funda, it was because i found 3 questions like this in a mock exam. But if you say that such questions wont ever come then i am happy. I gave the marcus green exam and got around 75%, a few silly mistakes, i think i am close to giving the actual exam but still lack some confidence, specially around initializers.

Thanks a lot everyone,
great to be on javaranch

Hi everyone,
I am preparing for SCJP, one funda i cant get my mind around is lets say
int a = 1;
int b = 1;
a = a+++b;
will give a = 2. Alright, i understand the postfix thingy here but what is the sure shot funda to get this right, also what about:
a=a+++b++

Can eneyone please help. Also, which mock exams are the closest to the real SCJP.

Thanks,
Rocky
