Hi,

So today was my big day, taking the SCJP 1.4 exam. And I passed with 81% (50/61) .

My advice is to focus on taking a lot of mock exams. I actually failed about a year ago after just studying a book and taking very few(and too easy) mock exams. This time I used the Whizlab exam simulator and found it very useful. I also used Dan's questions for studying and Marcus Green's mock exams for last day's of preparation. My final score, 81%, was about the same as I had on Marcus 1.4 mock exam and the final exam of Whizlab.

I would like to thank JavaRanch, Marcus Green, Dan and most of all Whizlab for coaching me to this success. Now it's time for 2 week's vacation .

Hi,

I'm doing my last days of preparation before taking the SCJP 1.4 exam on Friday. I've been focusing on doing mock tests, taking both
Dans and Marcus Green's mock exam(82%). The last two weeks Ive been doing all the practice exams in the Whizlab exam simulator, passing all but
one(31/61). Today I took the Whizlab final exam with the score of 46/61, most errors on Threads. You should be ready for the real exam
if you pass this final test with good marks according to Whizlab, but what exactly are good marks?

Any other last minute tips, except studying some more on threads?

By the way, do the real test enviroment look like the Whizlab simulator?
Hi,

I'm preparing for the SCJP 1.4 exam using the great Whizlab simulator. I have done all the practice exams scoring around 70-80%,
so I was thinking that I was pretty well prepared. But after taking practice exam 9 I'm not really sure anymore. I scored 34/61 and
must say that this exam was really really hard (almost all questions suddenly about assertions, threads and Wrapper class methods).
Please tell me that the number 9 exam is more difficult then the final exam or I'm in big trouble since I'm taking the 1.4 exam
by the end of next week.

I've also studied Dans mock-tests and took the Marcus Green 1.4 exam scoring 82%, so I was pretty confident but now I'm a bit worried.
Thank you, for your response. I took the Marcus Green 1.4 exam today and scored 82% (49/60). I will keep on studying for two more weeks and focus on the Whizlab practice exams. Hopefully I will be ready for the test by the end of next week.
I have about 5 years of "realworld" experience working with Java, but I don't think that this helps so much on this exam. I am taking this exam so I can proceed taking some of the more specified exams like web components.
I'm currently preparing for my second try on the SCJP 1.4 exam. I failed about a year ago scoring 50%

I think I failed the first time because of taking too few mock exams. I only studied one book and took the questions provided in the book which was far too easy compared to the real test. This time I have focused on taking both Dans mock exam questions and preparing with the Whizlab exam simulator.

I'v taken 6 practice exams in Whizlab exam simulator scoring about 40/61 on these tests. Does this mean that I'm ready or should I complete all practice exams and score a bit higher? It's a bit hard to know when you are ready or not.

greatful for any advice
