I don't think there is anything wrong or funny here. It was all about the momentary thing where he needed to pay his complete attention towards family because his father was ill.

Me neither.

What would you do when you are in his situation?

Kindly understand the human emotions/feelings. Atleast better NOT to play with them if you don't respect.

There are many things I would do. The best follows;

I would..... a) When applied or interviewed for the job would explain to the prospective employer the reasons for the gap. Understandably, if the employer has the knack for those.... "human emotions/feelings" will be able to give me the opportunity or I would just politely ask him to shove-up the job in his back-side.

Dear ranchers and Spring professionals,

For long I had this Spring training in my mind and now since I am unemployed and have all the time in world and a good warchest to support, I have decided to go for this training. Please, I do not intend to take up the training just to find employment or better my prospects. I have 5 yrs of java/jee experience but have never worked in spring.

My query is since the cost of the training is extortionate it would leave a significant dent in my warchest savings, however is it still the worth to go head-on for it?

Advice, suggestions welcomed.

True, atleast in my view. With the kind of outsourcing and off-shore development atleast programmers would not be needed in developed countries..... soon.

Folks,

Have just finished reading the article here. No surprise that James Gosling the 'Father of Java' has resigned from Sun/Oracle and is now job hunting.
Just wondering whether should I anticipate any of his posts in this forum regarding ....... What salary should one 'Father of Java' expect on joining a big MNC and other likewise.

Rants/Feedback/Opinions welcomed.

And i have heard about these frameworks, hibernate, spring, struts and so ...are they in J2EE or you are supposed to learn separately?

Aside, the word 'I' in English is always capitalized and in English, the first letter of a name is capitalized. Hibernate, Spring, Struts, etc. The practice of writing correct English is strongly related to the activity of writing good code.

In addition, in English there is always a 'space' or 'nbsp' after every..... fullstop (.), comma (,) or question mark (?). Learning the syntax of any language forms good grounds .... both in programming and in communications.

I've seen a mix of posts recently from you:

The topic that I thought was confusing was.... where Jacob mentioned that he turned down a job offer because it only offered a 50% raise, and he wanted a 100% raise. And now, he wants to work in another country without a visa?

Giving up an offer, with a 50% raise, in order to start looking to work in another country, is a bit much. May I ask what is so special about working in another country?

tapeshwar sharma wrote:Like a good professional in US, you give a 15 days resignation notice, the boss takes it personally and lets you go that very day!
All of a sudden, he has no requirement for you and can't keep you at work for even a single day, let alone the 15 day notice period.
Is it common for people on contract jobs? I've had only 2 earlier and never faced any thing like that before.
Well, I can use this time to visit San Francisco, but that's not the point.

As the boss would look it this way;
a) Blimey - I need a replacement within 15 days - Gosh - that too .. a smart ar** ... like the one leaving. Better get used to "the departing" NOW and get over
b) Team/Colleagues - need to get used to the new member - Gosh would he/she fit in the team/office.
c) Training - Would he/she need training - need to allocate a mentor/leader to get him/her on fast track.
d) What's/Would.. the impact be on Project schedule. Man hours lost. Reschedule the project plan. Inform the stakeholders/client/whoever
e) Posting/Advertising/Budgeting/Proposals for additional resources.

These are some thoughts that goes in a boss's head.

It's not personal ... its pure business.
It's not.... "no requirement for you"... its sheer requirements for himself/project.
It's not .... "can't keep you at work for even a single day" ..... its sheer ... what to do with a "quitter" (no offence meant)...Why cry over spilled milk.. Next steps?

True- very likely, I'm tired of people posting on many forums including this - about how's Java/JEE market in US/UK. how's the salary for 20+ experienced, will I be paid more than James Gosling.
GOD, there's life beyond H1B's and HSMP's and offsite's and onsite's.

siva sa wrote:I am a Tier1 Holder and looking to travel to UK around june/july. I understand once we make it to the direct interview, certifications wont carry much value. I like to know if they are of any help to gain points over other job seekers in getting a interview scheduled. I did SCJP and have experience working in j2ee, spring, struts, hibernate among others. Before I spend any time on certifications, I like to know if they really catch recruiters eye while shortlisting resumes.

Please share your experiences. I am looking to take spring certification in a month's time and like to know if any other certifications are helpful.

Thanks in advance

Most of the UK employers do not hold any sort of point system during an interview/resume sifts to gauge candidates or during the whole recruitment process. However they do value other qualities within a candidates such as team player, motivation and initiative ... apart from the technical qualification/certifications.

Dear Ida,

Although, I could see the point of you posting this vacancy of "Java Teacher" within the Jobs Offered section. Perhaps, my advice would be since I assume you are a budding Java developer/programmer starting out in the early stages, one of the biggest benefits of forums like this is that you could have your doubts/problems/ queries...etc cleared by the very same experts/professionals who hang out in such forums.

Further, I would also advice you is that a lot of times even when you have become an expert programmer/developer, the key to learn any programming language (well ! my view on this is .... in life too) is to look for answers yourself and your tools have to be 'why', 'how', 'where'....etc...get my point.

Just my 2 cents....
