I am using Rational Rose for modeling, and I find it weird that I am not able to name the dependencies between components in Component diagram (the way you could do for the relationships in class diagram).

Is this some sort of a limitation of Rational Rose or am i missing the way to do it?

Anybody who knows how to do this in Rational Rose?

Thanks.
Consider this scenario:

I have a stateful session facade that acts as the workflow manager to do the reservation. It invokes another stateless session bean as part of the workflow, like PaymentProcessor.

Now, I have the following questions:

1. Since PaymentProcessor marshalls all processes related to payment can that be logically considered as another facade in the system? (I guess so )

2. If there's been a controller-BD-SFSF(the workflow manager), then can there be another controller-BD-Paymentprocessor for the other facade.. The question here is, since the SFSB which acts as the workflow manager, invokes payment facade to do some processing, based on the payment's verification, it would then proceed to persist itinerary data. Here, the control lies with the SF facade. In that case, the controller for the SF facade would suffice ?

I am worried whether it is leaning more towards a single controller-facade design, as it might become bulky.

Appreciate all help.

Thanks.
Duren,

Thanks for your response.. I guess, I was not clear with my question. My question was can I go for DAO for search and CMP for data persistence..
Is it acceptable in J2EE applications, to have a combination of CMP (to actually persist data) and BMP (only in terms of using DAOs for search) for the same entity?

My question stems from the case that, I do not want to use Entity Bean Finders (instead use DAOs) to do a search to present a list of flights to the user for browsing. However when the itinerary details are persisted, is it valid to opt for CMP mechanism for persistence of data? Or is it a norm that once you go for DAOs (say only for search), you have to go with BMP/DAO combination only, for persisting the data as well?

Any comments?

Thanks.

Read some documentation on those lines and figured out the Subject/Principals.. exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks Martin.
Hello Ranchers,

I am currently working on the Part 2 assignment. Have been pondering about using JAAS in the solution.

In case of a web application, users would do self-registration (and thereby create their own userids). From what I understand, I can write my call back handlers in JAAS, and can accordingly even authenticate the users, against the userid information persisted in the application database.

However, what I am not able to figure out is , how does this user, get a particular role assigned. In case of both web/ EJB security, i can define the roles, that would access protected resources/methods.. The contents on the net, give an idea that you define the roles, for specific user ids.. in the j2ee server. In this case, the userids are self-created (by users during registration with the sithe) and cannot be fixed by the administrator in the server.

Does that mean, I cant go for JAAS authentication, if i have self registration or am i missing something totally?

Please help.

Thanks.
