The Staff Technical Project Manager will work with multidisciplinary teams to plan and deliver medium to large scale technology projects on time and within budget. TPMs have broad responsibility that includes mentoring, project management, and cross-department communication. They are involved in projects that impact WDIG as a whole, and bring extensive experience working on complex projects.
This position requires strong Technology background, excellent client and project management skills, and experience in leading Technology projects and cross-functional Technology teams. Successful candidates must be action oriented, capable of working on concurrent complex Technology projects and able to communicate clearly and effectively to Technology, executive and business audiences.
50% Project Management
�Plans, executes and successfully delivers on concurrent mid to large scale Technology projects.
�Conducts project management duties in accordance with Technical Support Services (TSS) PMO standards.
�Provides mentoring and direction to project team members.
�Escalates all unresolved Technology or personnel issues to the appropriate managers.
�Provides leadership in developing business requirements and scope statements defines project deliverables.
�Develops project plans, resource plans and project estimates in collaboration with multiple departments and teams.
�Ensures that milestones are achieved on-time and on-budget and in scope by dealing with or escalating issues with sufficient time for course correction.
�Develops and monitors risk and contingency plans.
�Manages project change control process.
�Tracks and monitors project issues resolution.
�Leads team meetings and participates in project review meetings.
�Ensures effective and proactive communications to project stakeholders.
�Manages project changes.
�Ensures quality of all project deliverables.
�Determines and documents project successes and lessons learned.
�Participates in programs to improve project management and technology development or operations programs.
35% Technology Management
�Development of requirements & functional specifications for complex infrastructure projects
�Developing a solid understanding of TSS platforms and customers
�Maintain up-to-date knowledge about technology & industry trends related to TSS? business
�Identify opportunities to improve core function/value of TSS platforms
10% Development and Training
�Works alongside the PMO to assist with processes, tools and training development and delivery.
�Take on other special projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
�Bachelor�s degree with a technology focus.
�PMI Project Management Professional preferred
�7+ years experience Technology project management.
�7+ years experience in managing highly scalable web and/or enterprise software projects
�Self-starter that can drive complex projects with minimal guidance/oversight
�Excellent communication and leadership skills
SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
�Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple Technology teams, on multiple concurrent projects, working with business leaders, Technology leaders, software engineers, and system administrators.
�Experienced with project management and development processes and lifecycles in a technology organization.
�Extremely organized and capable of tracking, managing, and resolving issues on multiple projects simultaneously.
�Strong working knowledge of the PMI PMBOK Reference Guide
�Demonstrated ability to synthesize clear business requirements from customer inputs
�Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize requirements and make informed project tradeoffs
�Demonstrated ability to map business requirements to appropriate functional/technical requirements
�Strong writing skills applied to project planning and specification documents
�Understands estimating and measurement concepts and how to apply to a project.
�Excellent ability to develop project schedules and set project milestones
�Demonstrated ability to drive project execution in an organized and disciplined manner
�Excellent technical skills, ability to challenge developers to defend technical designs
�Excellent troubleshooting, problem resolution, and customer management skills
�Solid understanding of techniques to achieve scalability and high availability for software applications
�Strong familiarity with web technologies; previous development experience is a strong plus
�Proficient in use of project management and documentation tools
�Solid understanding of business & financial processes and requirements they place on software systems
