Hi Guys,

I have something to add here.
Though it is based on intuition rather than information.
Its actually the container which implements the Home interfaces and creates
concrete classes and stubs which are used by clients. In case of entity beans
the container expects Business methods in home and accordingly generates the implementation class to handle such business mehthods. If we try to add home methods in the session bean home the container has no directions from the spec about how to handle this.It might give you a specific error saying that it is not allowed or it might quietly generate the implemention class and give you compile time error saying that the generated class does not implement all the methods from that home interface or anything might happen.
You can try this scenario in various app servers to confirm.
I will try it as soon as i can and will give you updates.

Hi Guys,

I am a beginner in the field of EJBs.About the current thread i would like to float an idea. All the database access code in CMP is written by the container. Also the container starts a transaction locks the entity in the database and does all the updates only once before the end of the transaction. So wont it be more efficient to club updates to all the fields in a single call something like

update tablename set col1=value1,col2=value2....where primarykey=primarykeyvalue

also more efficient would be to only update the fields that have been modified or only update the fields if the entity has been modified
Hi Guys

I have finished reading the HFEJB once and am starting the coffee cram exams. I have found that some questions are not clearly covered in the chapters and have reference of some particular spec nos. So i have downloaded the EJB 2.0 spec and i tried looking for these spec nos but i could not find them. The spec is just like another book.

Also i have read the HFEJB Page to Page and now do i also need to read the spec page to page to clear the exam ...becos that would delay my exam.

Please Advice.
