Thanx Sandeep,
Yes ,you are right. I have confirmed this.
In the Professional Edition we do have the javax.ejb package available and deployment related classes, but the ejb tab and related features come with the Enterprise Edition only.

Hi,
I can't find the EJB tab!!!
In the start option- Add Feature I do not see any option saying " add EJB Development Environment " .
I am using VisualAge for Java Professional edition 3.5
How do do this?

NO
I have the complete version with custom and full installation options.
Also if you see the link above ,
quoted:
-----------------------------------
Test the installation on the application server machine:
Start the administrative server.
Start the WebSphere Administrative Console (Java console).
Start the application server.
You might need to create a new application server.
Test the product installation:
Start the Web server on Machine B.
Browse the snoop servlet on Machine B: http://machine_B_hostname/servlet/snoop
where machine_B_hostname is a valid hostname for Machine B.
------------------------------------------
now how come they talk of the web server on machine B ??
I am really confused ....Do they mean you need to have web server and App Server on both machines?
regards,
Suchitra

Hi,
http://www-4.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v35/ae/infocenter/was/01040207.ht ml
Above is the link I referred to from a previous posting.this shows the following configuration
Machine A :- Web server ,Web server plug-in,administrative server, administrative console[OPTIONAL]
Machine B:- administrative server, administrative console, application server
Machine C:- Database Server

I want to know HOW can i install the administrative server on Machine A without installing the appllication server? because the installation has a option of installing both the servers together. And if you have to select the Application server then you also need a database client to be installed.
regards,
Suchitra

Initially I had DB2 on same machine with WAS .when I wanted to use a remote DB2 server I lost the admin repository .I want to know how to do this.

Thanx Ram.
I had installed Infocenter ,but I think it causes some problem starting the Admin Console.[if you see my post regarding this..]
So currently for a wile I won't be having infocenter!
But I think you mean to say the Environment field in the content pane ,so will try that.

Hello All,
I could deploy the Hello.jar from "deployableEJBs" ,the samples available with WAS.
The part of client code goes like this...
properties.put(javax.naming.Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.ibm.ejs.ns.jndi.CNInitialContextFactory");
properties.put(javax.naming.Context.PROVIDER_URL,"iiop://172.20.10.66:900";);//1
Context initial= new InitialContext(properties);//2
If I run this client from the machine 172.20.10.66[local] it works fine.
From any other machine[mapping the folder and setting the required classpath] it gives the follwing error ,after line //1:
Shared library ioser12 could not be found
what could be the mistake?

Hello All,
I have managed to install the trial version of WAS[AE].
Sometimes the console is up in 3-4 minutes but sometimes it takes more than 15-20 mins and it is still saying :Establishing Connection ,Please wait....
Can anyone please explain why this would be happening...?
All the services are running okay and the log file does not give any info on this.
[Configuration: NT,384MB ram,P2 HP machine]

Suchitra

Hello All,
Quoted from The WebSphere Infocenter:
6.3.v35: Packaging applications and generating code for deployment
Classes which call Java Native Interface (JNI) methods should be placed in the Application Server (JVM)'s classpath.
Classes which are passed to the HTTP session state should be placed in the Application Server (JVM)'s classpath.
query:
Does the "Classpath" here mean we need to define a variable in the Environment attribute, in the RIGHT side pane when you click on the Default Server.[I have installed the quick_trial version on WIN NT].
thanx & regards,
Suchitra
