Hello,

I have a problem understanding how a system based on picoJava-II (picoJava, respectively) works in detail. I think it's easy to answer/confirm for someone who has already worked with picoJava.

Let's assume a typical systems which consists of the picoJava-II core (embedded in hardware of course), an OS, a VM and a java application:

Let's begin: :-)
The JVM and OS are written in C (or C++) and compiled to java (extended) bytecode with a C++2Bytecode compiler (e.g. Metaware).
Is this right so far?

If the java application wants to create a new object the VM allocates memory from the OS (how does it call the OS? Via an extended bytecode?). The OS then calls an extended bytecode instruction which is trapped by picoJava who jumps to and executes the adequate subroutine. Is this right so far? (To which software does the subroutines of the extended bytecode belong to?)

If you can just confirm this or correct me, it would give me great pleasure. :-)

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello everyone!

I'm preparing a presentation about "java processors" for university.
Seems to be a nice and interesting topic. But I have trouble finding useful information. Most of the stuff I've found so far is too superficial. I need information about the architecture, how it works etc.

Can any of you provide me with some useful documentary, manuals, links etc. concerning java processors in general and picoJava in particular?

Thank you very much!

Hello,

I've tried almost everything to enable 'assert' in my portlet - but my portlet ignores it completely (although the file size increases when using assert statement in the code). The variable MAVEN_OPTS=-ea is also set.

Even a simple statement like 'assert false;' doesn't lead to an assertion.

Could anyone help me or give me a hint?

Thanks!

Hello,

is it possible to use the createRenderURL() method to create a renderURL that points to another portlet on the same page (and not to the portlet itself)?
Or is there another (better) possibility?

Thanks,
Dennis

Cameron, thanks for your answer.
I expected already that it won't be possible.

Hi everyone!

I've been surfing the Internet the whole day but haven't found a proper answer to my question / problem yet.

Hope you guys can help me: :-)

I have two Portlets A and B. I want Portlet A to display Portlet B in the _same window_ when a user clicks on an URL in Portlet A.
The user can return to Portlet A again by clicking on an URL in Portlet B.

Is it possible to display two Portlets in one window sequentially?

Thanks!
