Hi Wilmar,

Congratulations in clearing RUP.

Can you please suggest the books that you have referred for this exam?

That helps a lot!!

Thanks.
Hi Vinay,

I congratulate you for clearing 833 & 834 exams. Wish you good luck for more exams that you are planning to take.

I also appreciate the time and effort you put in documenting your test prep and suggestions for exam takers.

I'm planning for RUP 7.0 and so far I heard that UML (3 rd edition) books from Larman and Martin Fowler would suffice.

Any suggestions to read more!!!?

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm working on RAD 6.0 for close to an year now and I could see the below error coming once in a while which stops me from seeing the screen in the browser.

I got this error first time when I'm migrating from WAS 5.1 to RAD 6.0. During that time, the error was corrected by itself overnight without doing any change, I didn't have any clue of how it got corrected, but now agian the same error is haunting me for a while.

00000021 DispatchActio E org.apache.struts.actions.DispatchAction unspecified Request[/authorizeUser] does not contain handler parameter named.

If annybody came across the same issue and got around this, please let me know the solution.

Thanks for any help you may give.

Regards,
Phani.

I found the solution for this problem!!!

Hope this could be useful for anybody.

This is a known issue reported by IBM and the to fix this, have always mapping started with "/" instead of any character like "."

Check the link from IBM: http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21190234

I realised that the the name that I gave is wrong, it should be vvv.app.logdir instead of vvv.app.log.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I recently configures WAS 6.0 and able to publish my EAR project with some minor errors like Log4j path not found. I further went to open my application giving URL in browser and got the login page.

I gave the correct login ID and request went to DAO layer, got the user credentials. I know for sure that this user is a valid user for which I have a mapping in struts-config.xml as below:

<action path = "/authorizeUser" <br /> type = "com.mmm.wcw.web.security.LoginAction" parameter="methodToCall"<br /> name = "homeForm">
<forward name = "inactiveHomePage" path = "/pages/invalidhome.jsp" />
<forward name = "validuserHomePage" <br /> path = "./fetchHomeInformation.do?methodToCall=fetchHomeInformation" />
</action>

AS he is a valid user, I have the forward name as "validuserHomePage" for which the path is
"./fetchHomeInformation.do?methodToCall=fetchHomeInformation"

But I got a error message as below:

[3/18/07 23:58:13:309 CDT] 00000036 RequestProces E org.apache.struts.action.RequestProcessor processMapping Invalid path /./fetchHomeInformation was requested

I couldn't understand why it is appending /./ before the path information?

I used the same struts-config file in WAS 5.0 which is absolutely working fine. I thought this is something to do with setup/configuration in WAS 6.0.

Please let me know in case I should do any thing in WAS 6.0 setup related to struts-config.xml or anyother setting that resolves this problem.

Thanks in advance!!.

Hi,

I recently installed RAD 6.0 with the help of documentaion provided by my organization. I'm able to install and configure WAS 5.0 & WAS 6.0 servers and publish my EAR project using them. I'm facing few compatability probelms in WAS 5.0 and setup problems in WAS 6.0.

My project requirement is JDK1.4 for which I can use WAS 5.1. I tried to configure WAS 5.1 (just like what I did for WAS 5.0 & WAS 6.0) but when ever I try to do that it says the 'Agent Controller was not installed' which I guess is wrong because I'm able to run WAS 6.0 server after installing Agent controller only and its asks for Websphere server installation directory. I didn't do this for WAS 6.0.

Let me know if there is any way to install or steps that I have to do prior to WAS 5.1 server installation.

Thanks for any help you may give!!.

One of my jar files in my project requires JDK 1.4 which is compatible with WAS 5.1 and WAS 6.0. I cannot use WAS5.0 because it supports only JDK 1.3

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I did add a name and value under 'Custom Properties' in JVM. But still have the same issue. Somewhere I read that we should have the log4j.jar file under EAR folder. But this didn't work either.

Is there anything else that I could do?

Hi,
I'm working on RAD 6.0 and WAS 6.0 server. I configured both WAS 5.0 and WAS 6.0 servers and published my EAR project. With WAS 5.0, everything seem to work fine as I couldn't find any error in the console. But using WAS 6.0, when I start the server, I could see an error regarding Log4j like:
0000000a SystemErr R log4j:ERROR setFile(null,true) call failed.
0000000a SystemErr R java.io.FileNotFoundException: null\WCW.log (The system cannot find the path specified)

I couldn't see this error in WAS 5.0 because I remember I gave an environment variable inside server configuration for this. The environment variable looks like this:

Name - vvv.app.log
Value - c:/app/log

I could see the log files created as WCW.log under the above c drive.

But just wondering, how can I make my WAS6.0 server recognize the Log4j path as I didn't know where I can set the environment variable. I used WAS admin console to setup the database server and other inforrmation for my EAR project.
I think its already too long, but want to give you a good idea about my problem. Thanks for any help you may give!!.
