I used JSF for many years, and after using the new stuff (mostly Angular) I really feel JSF is slowly going out of the market. The JSF life cycle make it slow and error prone and it takes plenty of time to learn to get it right. Another big disadvantage is that, since the framework is trying to abstract the HTTP protocol and HTML code for the most part, you sometimes end up tweaking the framework to fulfill a special requirement. I think it has a steep learning curve because it's important that you not only learn the framework, but acquire a good understanding of HTTP, HTML, CSS, Javascript and any other tool that may come in handy, but in the end it's easier fulfill your needs.

So, if you're deciding which one to learn I would definately go for Angular/React. It's really worth it.

Cheers.

JSF
Hi.

I created a test class with your method and it fills only 6 ships, so the problem is somewhere else. A couple of hints:

1) You're receiving an object as a parameter and altering the inner state of that object. That is usually a bad practice that leads to problems such as the one you ran into. You might try instead creating the Liman object inside the method and returning it.

2) If you print the lists before the method execution and after you might notice if something weird happened inside the method of ir the problem is outside.

Hi!

If you're using Spring maybe you'd like to take a look at the Srping Social project:
https://projects.spring.io/spring-social/

Depending on your specific requirements you might need something else, but that project is pretty developed.

Hello!

I need to grab the HTML code of some web page, for example, for http://javaranch.com, the first lines would be:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

<html>
<head>
<title>JavaRanch - A Friendly Place for Java Greenhorns</title>
...
And so on. Does anyone know how to do this? Is this even possible? I would really appreciate any tips. I've been trying with URLConnection and HttpURLConnection, but I don't see any method to get the HTML code.

Thanks a lot!

Hello!

I think the code is:

You're using as separator 3 a's (aaa) so when it begins the search it uses the first 3 a's, the string before this would be an empty string. It removes those 3 a's and now search using "aaaaaabb". It does that with the other aaa's until the last string is aaab. Using split gives 2 tokens: an empty string and "bb". Try compiling this:

Hope it helps.

IS the final exam very easy in compare to mocks of whiz.. or the mocks which came with kathy & bates book?

am getting minimum 70% in the mocks.m i ready perfectly for the final exam.

I didn't try the whiz exams. I did the ones in K&B book, including the ones in the cd and online. Also did some online exams. The real exam is clearer than many of the mocks online and the codes are smaller. I'd say some questions are easier, but in general the difficulty is almost the same. I think the hardest questions are those about threads. I also got about 70% in the cd exam. But those "choose all that apply" questions are way harder. Be sure to re-read all questions and exam watchs. They are very useful.

Thanks to everybody! And I'll keep reading questions and trying to give answers whenever possible.

Hello!

This is my first post although I've been reading posts for almost 3 months. Today I presented the certification and got 86% on my first try. I didn't think there would be such hard questions, fortunately I prepared myself with lots of mock exams and the K&B book. It's really great to see that the hard work paid off.

Thanks to all the people in the SCJP forum. I really learned a lot there.
