Hi,

Can some one explain me the difference between these two patterns ?, At high level i feel both provide a similar solution.

Thanks.

Hi All,

I'm using the java mailing API for sending email in my application, The email content contains a Registered trade mark some where in the middle.

Expected output in the email:
"....... To open a CSV file use Microsoft ® Excel ....... "
Actual output in the email:
"....... To open a CSV file use Microsoft Excel ....... "

I'm using the below snippet for sending the email.

Environment: JBoss AS 4.3.0

Thanks,

Hi All,

In my application i have an option for the user to select few inputs and based on the input report will be generation. This report generation is a big task and it can take hours for completion to generate a single report.

In the above scenario the user inputs entered are wrapped in a JMS message object and pushed in to a queue. The listener picks the information and delegate the call to a 3rd party java reporting library for actual report generation.

Question here is, By mistake lets assume the user has entered few wrong inputs or he wish to edit some inputs for this task in that case the how do i cancel(as this is a big task i need to cancel it somehow and dont want to wait for its completion) the already running task and initiate a new task?

Thanks.
Hi All,

I'm a new bie to hibernate caching. I need youe help in understanding the cache expiration criteria.

In my application i have lot of configurational data's (read only data and updated very rarely) in a table and i would like to use "Read-only" caching strategy to cache the configurational data's.

I read about an article of hibernate caching and it mainly talked about the types of caching strategies like Read-only, Read-Write, Transaction etc., like when to use what.

What i like to know here is the cache expiration criteria's for each caching strategies ?
Where to configure the cache expiration criteria's for different cache providers like ehcache, oscache etc?

Can you please point me to any article which can explain this.

Regards,
Ragavendran.
Observer design pattern is what you need to look for handling such scenarios.

How about pushing the Integers in a ArrayList<Integer> and call its contains(obj) method to find the match ?

To put the things in a simple way. I think Rajasekar is advising you to create a singleton class.
I have resolved it myself. This was happening as the window name of the popup was hardcoded to "Information" and whenever the browser attempts to open the popup it is already finding a window named "Information" and thus it overwritting the same popup.

Hello All,

I have a requirement to open a window popup and display an information pdf file in the popup. Before opening this popup a set of inputs will be collected in a form and the same will be validated in the servlet.

If the validation is through then it should open and display the information pdf file in the popup or else it will show a validation message in the custom built error component. I'm using the below code to create a popup from within a servet and "info.serv/InfoServ" will take care of writing the pdf contents to the servlet output stream.

This piece of code works fine, however my question here is, If this information popup is already opened and if i try to invoke the action again it is overwriting the content of existing popup instead of creating a new popup. My expectation here is that, It should open a new popup everytime a new action is fired.

Can one of you help me in explaining/overcoming this behavior ?

Hello All -

I'm using jasper to generate a PDF report and trying to print the same using Jasper print exporters. And everytime i export the PDF file to Print Exporter it prints an extra page in the beginning which contains information as below,

Later i tried to use to print a file through command line [in AIX OS].

Even for the above command it printed the above extra page.

however if i use -h option it is not printing this extra page.

Now the question here is how to set this flag programmatically in Java printing services/Jasper Exporter ?

Hi, I'm new to log4j and my application(which uses the log4j logging) is a stand alone java client, which gets invoked at scheduled intervals.

The log file specified in my log4j config xml is system.log.

<appender name="sampleFileApp" class="org.apache.log4j.FileAppender">
<param name="File" value="C:/app/logs/system.log"/>
<param name="Append" value="false"/>
<layout class="org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout">
<param name="ConversionPattern" value="<%d> <%p> <%c> - <%m>%n"/>
</layout>
</appender>

With this configuration, it creates a log file named system.log,
Is there any way to get the log file name as
system + current date/time (in yyyyMMddHHmmss).log instead of just system.log

Thanks

All,

I have an XML file like the one shown below,

I was trying to define an XSD schema for the above XML, so that i will validate the XML data, also use the same for parsing the file using JAXB2.

In this regard, since the <In> and <Out> tag can appear in any order and any number of times, i couldn't exactly know how the complex type LogInOut should look.

Please see the XSD which i have created. Let me know the changes which i have to make to my XSD.

Not sure whether to use sequence or all or choice, certainly not choice.
Also i can't make the complextype as xs:sequence as there is no guarentee that <In> tag will be the first one.
Also if i make it xs:all in that case the maxOccurs must be 1, so i cant define more than one <In> or <Out> tags

Please help me in this regard.

Thanks

Hello All,

I want to know, how class loading works. For example if i have two classes named com.demo.DemoConstants in two jars named demo1.jar and demo2.jar and both jars in classpath , which class will be loaded by the JVM?

Is there any way to control the class that is getting loaded from the jar ?

Thanks,

Hi all,

Can some one tell me a good eclipse plugin for creating UML diagrams.
Hello All,

I came to know that JAXB comes as a part of container(Correct me if my understanding is wrong). I'm using IBM WebSphere Application Server 6.1.0.0, Can some one help me to locate the JAXB schema compiler location like where can i find that in the server installation path?

Thanks
