I am using Ajax in that page. I there any possibility of calling the same Ajax function from the javascript function.

I have a problem,
first, I open a pop up window, in that I update in the database. after updating in the database I want to close the popup and also update a div in the parent window. Please can anyone help me.

In future will ruby on rails be used as many of the companies are using Java now and is ruby powerful compared to Java or not.
