Aly Saleh & Murat Karslioglu,

Thank you for promoting this on JavaRanch.

I'm an experienced Java/JEE developer and wish to start learning about cloud technologies.  I believe learning Docker and Kubernetes would be the first step towards learning this new architecture.

Is that true?  What other non-specific cloud vendor technologies does one need to learn and how much do we need to know?  With this new architecture, I struggle with what should the developer know vs what should the infrastructure team should know.

Thank you,
Steven

OK, finally got an answer....Yes.  The OCM SE6 does qualify as a prerequisite for the Java SE Professional Upgrade exam.
I'm currently going back and forth with the Oracle Learning Support team about this very issue.

I am an Oracle Certified Master, Java SE6 Developer.  I took the exam before Oracle rebranded from Sun.  I received the rebranded certificate and had all certifications merged over to CertView.  I assumed since I was certified at SE 6 at the highest level that I would be able to take the upgrade SE 11 exam (817) and be certified at SE 11.  I just took the exam and passed, but have not received the certificate.

I contacted support about this issue and they stated I don't have the required prerequisites.  This was 2 weeks ago.  Since that time I am trying to get a proper response back concerning how the Master certification is recognized by Oracle.  Support team has told me I need to take the exams for Java SE 8 to gain certification for SE 11.  I still don't know how they recognize my prior certification, if at all.  I am still going back and forth with them.  All the support team is doing to resending me the prerequisites in every email response.

Not sure how this will be resolved at this point.  I'll post an update is I ever get a resolution.  At this point I may have to take two more exams.
