I have just completed my BTech. I was placed on-campus in a company(let's say it X) which has a branded name and is a mass recruiter. In the meantime, I applied in a startup company(let's say it Y) in Bangalore. I had 3 telephonic interviews(each of around 1 hour) with them. They selected me. This company has a lot of work in J2EE. And I will definitely get a chance to work on J2EE projects and will learn a lot. While in the company [X], there is very less to learn. Noone learns much and also there is lot of uncertainty about which person will get project on which domain. Also about each person has to sit around 4-5 months on bench initially.
I am SCJP and SCWCD certified. I have a lot of interest in Java technology.
I have decided to join company [Y]. Is my decision right???
If I work in this company 1 year and learn a lot in Java technology, will it help in switching over to some other reputed company afterwards? Since no one will be knowing this company, will it affect my career?

I have completed my BTech degree in Computer Engg. I am SCJP 5.0(97%) and SCWCD 1.4(86%) certified. I have been placed on-campus and my joining will come after some months. But I know that no good JAVA projects are there and my skills will be totally get wasted. I don't know what to do at this situation?
Good companies require atleast 3-4 years of experience and also I think there has been a slum in IT sector at present. I have much interest in JAVA technology and want to learn more and more.
May I get a good job now? If yes, how much salary should I expect?
Also I don't know how much useful my certifications will prove to be. Should I start preparing for SCBCD or would it be wrong?

Good companies require atleast 3-4 years of experience. That's why my moral is much down. I have much interest in JAVA technology and want to learn more and more and do more certifications. But at the same time, I want to work for a good organization where I would be offered good projects. Simply learning is not enough until we have practical skills.
Please give me suggestions how should I utilize my time now?
Are there good companies which can hire freshers? If yes, then please do inform me of them. Also I don't know how much useful my certifications will prove to be. Should I start preparing for SCBCD?
