No, default access means package-private (only visible inside the package). Take a look here: http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/java/javaOO/accesscontrol.html
Hi guys,

Today something very strange happened. I received a mail from suncert_ww@oracle.com in which I was assigned another project (Bodgitt and Scarper) so now I ended up with 2 assignments (URLyBird was the first one, I downloaded when I paid the exam). I've replied asking for a confirmation...since I haven't coded extensively, it's ok for me to change the assignment but imagine if I had coded a lot...

Anyway, the procedure should be much simple now, as described here:

We are temporarily changing the process for this certification due to some systems changes related to the Oracle acquisition. Rather than download the assignment instructions and upload the assignment completions, we are simply sending it to you as an email attachment and you will send us back a JAR file. Please see your attached assignment.

When you have completed your SCJD assignment, please go to Prometric and take Part 2 of your certification. Part 2 is the exam 310-027, which you can register for at prometric.com/sun. We cannot grade your assignment (310-252A) without the completion of the essay (310-027).
When you are ready to send us your completed assignment you may email it to developer-submit@oracle.com. We will then collect your essay responses and send this off for grading. We will respond to you with a grade within 4-6 weeks.

Hope this helps.

Hi Cindy,

If you have URLyBird, and need the zip, I can send it to you.

[Update] Seems I shouldn't do this, so it's better to contact Sun directly. Sorry.

Evelina
You can also try gary.fluitt@oracle.com He sent me the zip by email.
Hope this helps.

Hi Cindy,

Same thing happened to me. You can also try to contact gary.fluitt@oracle.com
I think he's responsible with the assignment materials. He helped me.

Good luck.

Good news

I've got the problem solved (and the files sent by email). So, in case something like this happens again, you should contact suncompetency@sun.com or SunCert@prometric.com

Thanks and good luck! I'll be roaming about the forum for advice on the SCJD assignment ;)
Hello,

Of course, the time expired without me being able to download the files and without receiving an answer from sun or prometric. I've sent a lot of mails to sun, prometric (even the representative in my country)...I am still waiting for an answer. This situation is really stressful. I hope they will understand and provide me the necessary files. Not to mention the fact that on the main site, the price shown is $125 and when I actually purchased the exam (I am from Romania), the cost was $300. Very upsetting Very disappointing process, I also had difficulties with SCJP voucher. Anyway...

Thanks again for your help. I will keep you guys posted, in case someone else goes through the same thing.

Evelina
Hi Roel,

Thanks for your quick answer. I've already sent a mail to who2contact@sun.com telling them about the situation. Unfortunately, right now is night in USA, and by the time they wake up, my assignment will expire.

Thanks,
Evelina
Hi guys,

I've just purchased the assignment part of SCJD and I logged in to Prometric website and even though I can see the assignment page (with all the requirements), when I try to download the database file, it seems that a htaccess login box appears and the username and password I use (the same as for Prometric account I just created to purchase the exam) don't work. I have less than 2 hrs to download the file. Anyone knows which username/pass I should use and what I should do in this case?

Thanks,
Evelina

[edit]removed the link to the database file

Glad to know that it helped.

Awesome, your tests are the best...and I've learned quite a few tricks from them! Highly recommend them!

Thats really great score, I hope to achieve something comparable to you guys, after two days.
Any suggestions because now I am really nervous as you said the questions on oops were a bit tough.

anyways congrats and enjoy

Depends on your luck, really...in my case the OOP questions were ok (I got 100%) but I got like 12 questions on Threads (some really nasty) so I scored the lowest (60%). Anyway, good luck!

Evelina Vrabie wrote:Yesterday morning I've cleared SCJP with 88%. Biggest score in OOP concepts, Declarations, Initializations and Scooping and Flow Control (100%) and lowest on threads (60%). I think I've got more than 12 questions on threads...and some were a little strange But anyway, I'm happy One thing I consider important - what helped me pass the test: SCJP Study Guide 1.6 by Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates and Examlab 1.6 by Devaka Cooray - absolutely AWESOME, I'll definitely make him a donation I mean, I scored 88% on almost all his tests, and got the same score on the final exam

So, next...SCJD, starting next month. I'll be reading the forum for advice and study materials ;) Good luck to all of you!

PS: I don't see many girls here on the forum...Hope I can fit in
