How to access a remote web service using a java client that required STS authentication, the remote service is implemented in WCF and probably the STS is some Microsoft service as well.

I have the web service wsdl URL and also the URL for STS, can someone point me to a simple set of instructions that are specific to this case.
STS url has bindings for for username based or windows based authentication.
Will really appreciate if someone can share their own experience with such client, what tools/apis you used etc.
Thanks

I want a way to take complete back up of WAS with an intention to restore.

backupConfig and restoreConfig works great for configuration aspects but is there a way that takes backup of the deployed components as well and essentially when restored from that back up brings back the WAS instance to previous state with all application binaries, libraries etc deployed as well.

Any script samples or reference to any available websphere documentation will greatly help.

Thank you

Ok, thanks!

so what happens is OS dependent, if the OS can not allow it additional memory (by working around virtual memory in such cases), will it throw out of memory error?

Is it possible to specify max memory for a JVM more that the available system memory.

Say, I have a machine with 1 GB RAM and I want to run a JVM with max memory setting set to 2GB .
Will it work for an application that needs 2GB memory, any explanation or more information will be much appreciated.

Thank you!!

compiling your code with jdk1.5 before deploying should help.

I am trying to run a POJO message listener using Spring on weblogic 8.1.
For some reason when we kill the listener application or it gets abnormally terminated the weblogic console still shows the connected consumers. Although the incoming messages are not processed because in fact there are no actual consumers. When we bring up the listener process again the listener count is increased by the new listeners. This does not happen all the time, in fact never when we stop the listener application in a normal way, but at times when my listener exist in an abnormal way the consumer are not set to zero at weblogic console.

I would appreciate if someone could help to understand , what is causing this behavior. I would like to fix it in such a way that weblogic console show no listener when there are no actual listener. Not sure if the problem lies at weblogic end or spring message listener end.

Sorted in alphabetic order, they are just strings.

Applications that is updating the table can send a message to your application when they create a new record instead of keep looking for new records at your own in the DB. You can than store the message and treat it as most recent record in DB until next message arrives.

Class XYZ
{

public void depositData (String data)
{
//stores this data
}

public String[] getSortedData ()
{
//returns all data that is currently there in a sorted String array.
}
}

Other considerations.
>used in multithreaded environment add method will be called roughly 5-10 times every second, while get called once every 10 second.
> Should be able to perform for very large number of records, say a million.
> there is enough memory available to run this application.

Would appreciate a detailed description of approach you would follow, including choice of data structure to hold data and sorting, synchronization issues.

How are you posting the request for servlet?

"of course you need to declare at least one method in your interface:"

not at all, you can have all empty interface, also called marker interface.

I have a class B that extends class A, both class B and Class A contain few attributes. I want to serialize object of class B but I have a specific requirement that need that after unmarshalling only attributes of class A should be available to the client. Use of transient is not permitted because there are many situations when attribute of both A and B are required. Is there any way to achieve this?

Thanks for your help.

It works fine as of now for few hundred records but I am yet to test it against thousands of records that it is suppose to handle in main environment. I was basically curious to know if there is any optimized limit that java suggests on data kept in a StringBuffer so that I could empty it by writing to file whenever my StringBuffer reaches that capacity. Right now my code attempts to write to the file only once when all data has been stored in a StringBuffer.

Hi,
I have to write large volume of data fetched from database to a file. My data is initially is a two dimensional array as returned from data access classes. I need to generate a csv file. So I am going through the array and using StringBuffer to create the data that is written to file typically by FileOutputStream. (StringBuffer.getBytes())
I am not sure if creating large StringBuffer typically for thousands of records could be a problem or is a good thing. Can someone offer some advice on that or some better ways to implement this thing?
