That is because compiler has no way of figuring out that
import java.util.Calendar.* actually is of form pkg.classname.* and not package.*

Can you give some context about where you faced this issue? Singleton has got nothing to do with how many processors your system has.

Meghana

The secret lies with the println() method code. println(String x) method from PrintStream calls

Thats why you dont get a NullPointerException but instead a "null" String gets appended

This could be subjective and you will get different answers from different people. Have you tried to do any research on various options? I think that would be a good thing to do and then ask for expert opinion about pros and cons on few of them

We are doing some tests for which we need to disable DMS. How can we do that in Oracle App Server. One of the FAQs on oracle's site says that we need to set "Doracle.dms.console.DMSConsole" property value to "racle.dms.instrument_stub.DMSConsole". But when I do that I get a ClassNotFoundException. Any clues?Pointers?

I am certain they are part of JDK1.4. When I look into rt.jar I can see them. But they are missing from JDK1.5's rt.jar.

Hello

I am trying to port a project from JDK1.4 to JDK1.5. During compilation I get following errors

1. package org.apache.xpath.patterns does not exist
2. package org.apache.xml.utils does not exist
3. package com.sun.rsasign does not exist import com.sun.rsasign.c;

I think they were removed from JDK. Can anyone throw some light on where to find respective jars so that the compilation will go through

Thanks

Hello!!!
I have a very basic doubt about loading of servlets. When does a sevlet get loaded exactly? Is it loaded when the web server starts up or is it loaded when the server receives the first request for a specific servlet. Is there any way of controlling the exact timing of loading various servlets
Also ..if i want to load a certain servlet at startup how can i do that.I am using TOMCAT as my servlet engine.
TIA
Cheers
