Hi all,
I am using JDBC thin driver (classes12.zip) to connect to an Oracle database. The driver registers but during while trying to get the connection I get the following error ---
Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=153092352)(ERR=12500)(ERROR_STACK=(
ERROR=(CODE=12500)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=12540)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=12560)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(COD
E=510)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(BUF='HPUX Error: 11: Resource temporarily unavailable')))): java.sql.SQ
LException: Io exception: Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=153092352)(ERR=12500)(E
RROR_STACK=(ERROR=(CODE=12500)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=12540)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(CODE=12560)(EMFI=4)
)(ERROR=(CODE=510)(EMFI=4))(ERROR=(BUF='HPUX Error: 11: Resource temporarily unavailable'))))
DCan anyone help decode this / or know what the problem is....

Abraham

JSP
Thanx frank for the quick reply...
Just for the acadamic purposes, if I encode everything after the "?" that is the parameters names and the parameter values, and send them in the link, when page2 receives it, wouldn't the parameter names also be decode too, just like the parameter values are being decoded.
So I could say request.getParameter("niin1") should return me a valid value instead of a null ??

JSP
Hi,
I am trying to pass some parameters as a link to another page.
Lets say I have two pages page1.jsp which contains a link to another page page2.jsp
The link that I want to pass is this
<a href="page2.jsp?niin1=123%&niin2=&itemName=test1223%" target="_self">
As you would have noticed, the link contains special characters, specifically '%'. Hence I encode it using the URLEncode.encode method from java.net lib.
So, does one encode the complete link
as in
(1)
URLEncode.encode("page2.jsp?niin1=123%&niin2=&itemName=test1223%")
OR just
(2)
"page2.jsp?" + URLEncode(niin1=123%&niin2=&itemName=test1223%)
OR
(3)
page2.jsp + URLEncode(?niin1=123%&niin2=&itemName=test1223%)

Anyway I tried all the 3 that I mentioned above.
when I tried to do it by (1) and (3) the webserver said it could not find the page.
when I tried the (2)
request.getParameter gave me null as an answer.
I am using Oracle containers for J2EE. I also tried it on my JDeveloper environment.
I know I am missing something. But what ? All help greatly appreciated ..
Thanx in advance...

Hi All,
I was just wondering is it possible for a java object to kill itself. Rather than the object going out of scope or being assigned null. Since the class does not have a destructor, How can an object self destruct ??
Thanks in advance..

Hi Maya,
Just a thought...
Hope u have the CLASSPATH set so that it inclues the correct JDBC classes for the database.
eg
--------------------------------------------
CLASSPATH=d:\oracle\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip
------------------------------------------
for the oracle database.
So depending on what database u are using including the correct classpath may solve the problem.
Once again this is just a thought.
Try and give a little more desc on the problem...

Greetings,
I need to expire a page after use. Hence I coded this in JSP
<%
response.setDateHeader ("Expires", 0);
response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-store");
response.setDateHeader("max-age", 0);
response.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);
%>
This works just fine when I run it from my IDE, which is JDeveloper 3.2.3.
I then transfered it to my Apache/Tomcat server. When I run it from the server the page expiring does not work.
Oh! by the way I am using IE 5.5
Could some one please enlighten me as to what I am missing... for the apache/tomcat configration.
Thanx,
Abe

Thanx for the reply manish
Is there a way to find out that when the user press the back button or the refresh button it is actually loading an expired page which can be trapped by JavaScript ?
Hi All,
I am using JDeveloper 3.2.3 I was wondering if anyone knows how to do the following.
1) When u run a JavaScript/HTML from the IDE how do u make the page open in a new browser window ?
2) Is there a way to make it open a Netscape Navigator (other than the fact that ur default browser is Netscape Navigator)
Thanx...
Looks like I found the answer... (just in case anybody else needs it...)
Using JSP...
<%
response.setDateHeader ("Expires", 0);
response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-store");
response.setDateHeader("max-age", 0);
response.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);
%>

Now I have another question.....
Is there any way to find out that the page has expired and that it should reload itself.
Right now in IE 5.5 it shows me that the page has expired and that I should physcically press the refresh/reload button...
Hi All,
I am trying to expiry a page in the browser history/cache. Basically here is the problem
(post)
jspPage1 ---> jspPage2

When the user is on jspPage2 and presses the browsers back button I want the jspPage1 reloaded/refreshed from the server.
I tried using the META tag
<META http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache">
but somehow this does not seem to solve the problem... (I am using IE 5.5)
Thanx,
Yep thats a good solution
I think I can put it in a loop and build the query string...
I am not sure if this is the answer.. but it could well be..
In welcome.jsp (u have written) ----
ResultSet rs=stmt.executeQuery(query);
%>
<b>Welcome<%= rs.getString("FirstName") %> <%=rs.getString("LastName") %>
<%
----------
just after opening the resultset u have not used
rs.next()
rs.next() does 2 things
1) Returns a boolean which tells you whether it a record exist in the cursor
2) It advances the cursor pointer to the next record.
Just after getting the resultset the pointer is before the first record in the resultset and hence I think therein lies ur problem...
