Are there Web-specific elements of the UML?

------------------
Hi Gaurav,
I am making a wild guess here.
Your server does not support the latest Servlet Apis.
If ur usinfg jws, then pls ensure that u plug in the servlet.jar in the classpath of the jws,
Also if u can let us know what is being printed on the server console it would be a great help,
I also suggest put the above code in try catch block and print the exception if ur not doing it now.

Hi Xinbo,

I had a similar problem while using oracle thin driver.
I suggest that u place the jar file of the driver in the c:\jdk1.2\lib\ext\xx.jar. where jdk1.2 is the directorey name where u install ur java.
ensure that the web server ur using points to this jdk.
Feel free to contact me if ur not able to solve it.

Hi Amit,
I am Tushar, I have worked for HCL Infosystems Ltd. for about 4 months.
Consider the following things, What grade are you joining, Are you joining for Software dev. / Business Analyst, Normally HCL do not give recognition to Non IT exposure hence find out, What Pay packet are they offering and so on.

Of Course You can run a SMTP server on a windows 98, There must be dozens free available on the net.(Search For Them)
Download on but the only htin you need to take care it needs to be connected to ISP for mail download & upload.
In Fact we did the same for our project.

What protocol does Jini use for communications between clients and servers?
If it such that there is no protocol required or specified, How is the client communicating with the server, if given that there is no protocol at all, will it not create confusion, What if Jini client does not support the protocol.
My thinking is more on a Client Server technology, Can anyone clear this.

How does the Jini Lookup Service differ from other naming and directory services such as LDAP or the RMI registry?
------------------

Is there any way I can register an EJB proxy with the Jini Lookup Service so clients can lookup an EJB using the JLS?
In a broader context, How will EJB components announce themselves to be available for services on the network?
As of now Clients requiring access to the Component will look up for the home interface, and then instantiate the bean, the having got reference to the remote object will call Business methods.
Here the scenario is different, EJB component need to announce themselves on the network.

Hi Keith,
One thing that hits me about JINI it ability to allow even hardware oriented services to delivered thru the network.
Can You elaborate for instance how the hell will Car sense that The gas in the tank has gone down & send a mailer to me for refilling of the gas or send a request notification to gas station with a authenticated request for gas filling.
Its okay when we say software service being plugged in plugged out of the network but whats happening how does the car understand that the petrol is down how does it know it has to send notification to the following gas station server etc...
Is it lot of rut, i hope u will help me make more sense.

JNDI is indeed come as panacea for the simple reason that it provides standard APIs for accessing different protocols be it LDAP or others.
if I were to quote a analogy, its something similar to the way java has turned Application Server market upside down. What they have done is they have defined Specifications for an Server Side Component. It is upto Vendors to implement the Specification, But for a Developer It does not matter how is the specs implemented what he is concerned about is a Standard API for accessing these services.
Similarly JNDI is a API which will allow developers to access the LDAP protocols and others without bothering about its implementation by the Vendors.

Jini as it is known is going to be used as an infrastructre on which different network services will be available on demand to clients.
Jini is supposed to provide specifications as to how the service has to be implemented for it to complement the Jini infrastructre.
But Why should Jini conme at all in picture Can we not still deliver network without Jini, be it A Web Browser, Be it a WAP enabled mobile thru WAP protocol, Then Why suddenly is there an requirement for an infrastructre we need to build from scratch, Services re-written complying to JINI standards.
I am an MIS exec, and constantly in search for similar questions.
