Thanks for ur insight folks, if was very helpfull.
Now I feel like I am relationships expert, jus kidding.

Thanks for ur suggestions.
One more clarification, So does it imply that relationships are implementation dependant and varies from each person who designed the application???
eRIC
Victor
On the same note, say a class A instantiates Class B and calls its methods, then its an association ??

Folks
I am doing my partII assignment and having a tough time trying to distinguish if a relationship is either a dependency or association.
I know the definitions, any insights or rules of thumb that I can use from a practical perspective???
Eric
Folks
I answer to myself
I found out that the controller in the petstore example works in 2 tiers the main servlet at the webtier and the Shoppingclient controller at the EJB tier.
And regarding who does the final processing once the order is committed, its the StateMachine which interacts with inventory, order and mailer.
Is StateMachine similar to a DAO ?? and the ShoppingClientController similar to a SessionFacade ???
Eric
Folks
Do u think something similar to shopping cart in the petstore is required for FBN ???
In my perspective we need unless one wants use webtier to keep the session info which is not scalable, any thoughts ???
Eric
Folks
I was reviewing the petstroe application and found a few interesting things.
To my suprise, the controller is a Session bean instead of a servlet as in the case like STRUTS framework. Any thoughts on this approach ???
Also I am confused regarding which EJB is handling the scenario of updating the inventory, sending email, verifying creditcard etc. when the customer confirms the order.
Thanks for ur time

Eric
I know for sure that u need to take only part II by paying just $150.
I dont know if you need to ask for a new assignment or resubmit a modified one.
I dont think that u need to take part III even.
Eric
Hi Folks
It was interesting to find out that in the Java Pet Store example, they used the Fast-Lane Reader Pattern to create a CatalogDAO instead of using a catalogEJB to display the catalog.
Just wondering if any of you have used this pattern for displaying the flight list in ur assignment, if not whats ur perspective ???
Eric
Ok let me put it this way
I havent seen any examples of sequence diagrams for the include use case so please bear with me.
when one use case ends by invoking another use case , then in my sequence diagrams say my control object for use case A calls control object in use case B. Does it mean that the control object in use case B becomes the actor for use case B ???
Hi
Just wondering who will be my actor to initiate the use case when creating the SEQUENCE DIAGRAM for scenarios which have include relationship with another use case. eg. Price Itinerary use case
Eric
Hi
I am still analysing the sequence diagrams for each use case, so probably by the time I come to the class diagram as u r suggesting the control objects could merge.
If u see my question 1, I was not clear but I was referring to the sequence diagrams. I am bit confused bcos in the book Enterprise Java with UML the author was directly accessing the life cycle objects from the User Interface.

Eric
Hi All
My question is in two parts
1) In my perspective the control object is same as the servlet controller in the MVC architecture, if thats the case any request/ response from/to the actor in a use case has to go from the boundary object and through the control ojbect
Is my hypothesis wrong ???
2) Those of you who have a passed / finished the class diagrams include the boundary / control objects in their class diagrams ??
Thanks for ur time guys
Eric
Guys
I was trying to do some analysis and came up with the candidate objects from the use cases, but not a single reference of "Equipment" is made in the use cases. But the Business Domain Model makes shows the association.
Also I came across the forums that we cannot change the Business Domain model.
Any suggestions guys / gals ??
Eric
Hey Guys
Sounds motivating, still open ???
lemme know
