OCJP7 exam pattern
Questions: 65
Passing score : 65%
Time : 150 minutes
How score is calculated? Not sure. 65% of 65 ? 42.25 ~ 43. => 43 questions should be correct /65  to pass, not sure. Nobody knows except exam creators. If you know comment down below.

Last year I asked a query but no response. Cool nobody is interested to reply or they just ignored.

But, I would like to share, my study plan.

My Exam Preparation/study plan:
1. Took off from work for 15 days. Last year did the same but didn't get expected result.
2. Read the Cover to Cover from OCA/OCP Java SE7 Programmer I & II Study guide.
3. Practiced Topic wise tests in Enthuware, and whizlabs(But this is not good, I didn't like it). Didn't took at single mock test from enthuware.
4. Wrote nearly 100 tiny java programs.
5. Not only book reading, learning by coding, otherwise this will not work like OCA exam.

Exam is tuff tough. One can expect a question from any corner class/interface of Java7 API in this exam pertaining to exam objectives.
But, that's not small

For test takers of this OCP7 exam, it is tuff complex than OCP8 as it is 80 questions with same passing score 65%

BTW, I am an experined experienced Java dev with 8 years exp. Real time java work is different and certification is different. That is like apple, this is like orange.

Good Luck.

Never give up. I would have buckled up again, if failed this time as well.

Update:: Corrected spelling.

Hi

I am going to take the 1Z0-804 exam in the 3rd week of August 2017. I am going through the topics from Mala Gupta book (Certification Guide 1Z0-804). Can somebody share your exam experience?

Looks like a lot of topics for this exam, my study contains more hours as of now and ahead also. Would you mind sharing your study plan(BTW I am an experienced programmer, still I am spending more time for some specific topics)?

Any general tips would help, just to stay positive and motivated for this exam.

I am planning to take up the OCJP Programmer II certification. I found 2 books as good resources for exam preparation.
1. Kathy sierra, Bert Bates authored 1z0-803 and 1z0-804 book.
2. Mala Gupta authored OCJP Programmer II book

I am from India, I am searching these books in amazon and I see that Kathy sierra book is around 700 INR and Mala Gupta is costly i.e., it is around 2,300 INR. Did anyone purchased Mala gupta's book? Is it worth 2,500 INR? Is it a color print for that price or just paperback in black and white print? Just want to know if somebody has already purchased Mala Gupta's book.

Any other book suggestions are welcome.

Update :
I am OCJA 7 Programmer I certified(1z0-803), passed this exam in 2014.(For this exam I have purchased Mala Gupta OCJA book from dreamtech press and the cost was around 650 INR at that time.)
So, I believe I cannot directly take OCJP8 exam. I have to take up OCJP7 exam. By the way, not sure why Mala Gupta OCJP book is not released by DreamTech press. Thanks for the book suggestions, I will have a look at their contents.

Hello ranchers

I have firmly decided to take up this exam. I just wanted to know where can I purchase this voucher. I am from India, Hyderabad.
I can purchase it from here. Any other sources from where we can purchase?

Did anyone purchased it from the official oracle online link. What can be the expiration date of that voucher purchased online from oracle. Can the expiration date be atleast 2 months from the date of purchase if bought online?
I wanted to know this information before I could go any further.
Hello Ranchers

I am Java programmer from India, looking forward to take up some java certification since last 1 year and delayed. Now, I have buckled up myself to take it ASAP. I did some research on Java certifications.
Here are my findings, and found that I have two options.
  • Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer
    Exam Code : 1z0-803
  • Cost: Rs 8014

  • Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 7 Programmer
    Exam Code : 1z0-804
  • Cost: Rs 8014

  • Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 6 Programmer
    Exam Code : 1Z0-851
  • Cost: Rs 8014

My question is which one should I take, Associate 7 or Professional 6. As Professional 7 requires Associate 7 as a prerequisite, I don't want to talk about this.
Today its Java7, I am really muddled about taking the decision of selecting the exam Associate 7 or Professional 6, both have the same cost in India.
Did anyone cleared the Associate 7 exam recently, can you share your experience? If I take up Professional 6, is it a meaningful or worth, I mean after Java 7 release?

    Ranchers, please provide your suggestions.

I started to work on wlst in embeded mode. I was trying to connect to admin user using wlst in embedded mode, but i could not succeed because of the following error. I don't know what are the required jars to add to my build path, so added all the jars in my weblogic/wlserver103/server/lib folder. There are no java errors in my eclipse project, upon execution of the java class, I've encountered below error

I'm able do the same though WLST offline mode. Wondering where I was wrong.

    Maneesh this is not swings

    anyways
i found absolute answer to my question i.e..,

my attempts 1) styledText.selectAll();//moves the autoscroll down but selects all..--not preferrable 2) styledText.setSelection(styledText.getCharacterCount());//works for me

gratitude to all for the above answers.

    Hi,

I'm reading a text file and displaying in the styledtext component of SWT, each time a new line is appended it's not shown, i mean the line is added to the next row but the scrollbar is NOT scrolling to the next row.
How can i make it auto scroll, as a workaround i tried using

it does auto scroll, but shows the complete selection of text, can someone provide an optimal and better programming practice for this case.
    Hi Moderator,

I request you to please and kindly open a new forum under GUI stuff, Eclipse Rich Client Platform, this could be a great platform for all the Plugin Developers, i really miss coderanch these days without this topic.I believe coderanch as the best java forum ever and Eclipse RCP is purely java based(SWT/JFace). I hope this will be created very soon.

    Thanks in advance

one more thing is it is possible to achieve using println statement but i want to do this using write method

Is there a way to figure it ? i found that if the array was character array output is fine
but initially i wish to give integer input
