I figured this out, it had to do with using Spring to create a runnable JAR file. When creating the JAR file with Spring it allows you to select one of three options under Library handling:
- Extract required libraries into generated JAR
- Package required libraries into generated JAR
- Copy required libraries into a sub-folder next to the generated JAR
When I used option 1 & 2 this would cause the error to occur. When I used option 3 the application worked correctly without any errors.

Hello I am new to Spring and I am having a problem getting my standalone application to run outside of the Spring Source environment. When I export the program I receive the following error when I try to run it. I can't understand why it runs great within Spring and gets errors when it is move outside that environment. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Exception in thread "main" org.springframework.beans.factory.xml.XmlBeanDefiniti
onStoreException: Line 9 in XML document from class path resource [org/interface
Transfer/fgc-common-dao-context.xml] is invalid; nested exception is org.xml.sax
.SAXParseException: cvc-elt.1: Cannot find the declaration of element 'beans'.

This is my common-dao-contex.xml file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<beans xmlns="";

<context:component-scan base-package="org/interfaceTransfer"/>

<context:property-placeholder location="file:src/" ignore-unresolvable="true"/>

I successfully completed my first java project by using netbeans. The program runs perfectly on the machine which I built it on. However when i copy the executable Jar file to another machine and try to run it I get class not found exceptions.

For example : java.lang.ClassNotFound Exception: net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver

Is everything the program needs to run not packaged into the jar when it's created?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I am trying to use a resultset from an SQL query to write out to a tempory file. Here is a sample of the code I am trying to use. It seems I am running into a couple of problems
1. My output is not formated correctly .
2. I had to comment this line out to get it to run (out.write(rs.getTimestamp(3));) can you not write timestamp?
3. I was expecting my output to look like this: 142 123456 2011-07-28 00:00:00.0 test
4. Instead my output looks like this Žtest

I am new to Java and I am trying to write from a SQL resultset("SELECT RecordID,ARNumber,DateUpdated,REVCHANGES FROM Updates") is ther a way I can write the results stright to a database on the mainframe? If this is not possible then I will need to write the result set from resultset query toa text file. Is there any way to write the entire resultset out The only thing I have found is the ability to select individuals fields.
