In my neck of the woods, I don't think any developer worth his/her salt would go for an internship; the demand is just too high.
Demand is very high for OO Programmers in my country as the IT and game industries are growing, and there is a skills shortage.
Entry salaries are €30k - €35k. I don't know what paid interns get, but I suppose it would amount to less than mentioned...
Hi, I recently completed my OCJA 6 and am currently studying OCJP 6 (will sit exam in January).
I'm in touch with several recruitment agents with a view to setting up interviews for Dec/Jan.
Ideally I'd get an entry level position but these are few and far between. Junior positions are for those with 1 - 3 years.
It would be great to hear how seasoned programmers got your first jobs in IT, and what your first month to six months was like (what was expected from you).
I'm still confused, and have attempted to follow your advice without success.
As far as I understand, the classpath and directory are the same. Both TestPackage1.java and TestPackage1.class are in the same folder. The directory folders are as follows:
With files TestPackage1.java and TestPackage1.class residing in folder package1.
When I compile the file I use the following command (which works fine):
Running the following created the same NoClassDefFoundError:
C:\>java -cp ../../../ javahandcode.mainpackage.package1.TestPackage1
Running the following:
C:\>java -cp javahandcode/mainpackage/package1/ javahandcode.mainpackage.package1.TestPackage1 ... created...Error: Could not find or load class javahandcode.mainpackage.package1.TestPackage1
I'm using Notepad++ to write code, and command-prompt to compile and run the file on Windows 7. The problem I'm having is when testing packages I keep getting NoClassFoundError. From what I
discovered this error has something to do with a missing classpath (I think?)...The compiled class file is in the same folder as the source file.
The following is a simple class with the package folders included:
The project folder 'JavaHandCode' is on the C:\ drive. The class compiles without issue, but when I try to run the class I get the error below...
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: TestPackage1 (wrong
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)
at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
The really puzzling part is this; when I delete the package from the source code, the newly compiled file executes correctly.
Hi all, I sat and passed my SCJA 6 exam a few days ago.
For study reference I used SCJA Study Guide, Head First, and various videos including some from Mark Lassoff, Bucky Roberts (thenewboston.org) etc. Anyone sitting that exam in the near future may be interested to hear that my classmates and I encountered no UML or 'associations' questions at all.
