In line 17 you have used Q.x where Q is class that you have created and x is static variable which can be accessed by using classname.variablename,so it wil print 11 because the value assigned to the instance variable x is 11 in the class Q,and in line 20, it will print 33 because it is called by using the object of the class which you have created because whenever you create a object, memory is allocated for that particular object,so if if you to print 44 instead of 33 you have to change the value of the instance variable y in that object, and then you can use q.y to print 44.

Use id for each div tags and then assign the width for each div tags.
i learnt, html and css and want to practise by developing some simpe web pages. i was wondering if i could get some link and some ideas.
thank you

yes that was the confusion. Can you please guide me how I am getting the value of i=8.

you have used "i=010" in your code which assigns the value 8 to the variable i,your query is how the value 8 is assigned to i.
this is how it will be converted from octal to decimal (1*8^1+0*8^0).

Is it mandatory to define both the superclass and derived class and the class with "main()" in same file.
i have created three classes named
  • protection.java,derived.java and samepackage.java.
  • in different files in package p1.
Superclass "protection.java" is compiling successsfully but when i try to compile the derived class "derived.java" i get an error "cannot find symbol 'protection'" in "class derived extends protection".

    any help will be appreciated...

I am confused in String. It's given in the book that string is object in java and it is created by using the class "String".And if you write "Object ob" then only the reference of that class is created and it points to "Null",an object is created by using "new" operator,"Object ob=new Object()".
Since the objects are created by using "new" operator where the memory is allocated dynamically during run-time, how in case of string this given statement is possible "String ob="Hello",without allocating memory for it.

    any help is appreciated...
