I am New to Maven web Application.

I have to create a Maven Web application using Eclipse Luna Release (4.4.0). When i tried to create Maven Web app normally by selecting the "Maven-archetype-webapp" artifact Id, i am getting the below error

Unable to create project from archetype [org.apache.maven.archetypes:maven-archetype-webapp:RELEASE]
The defined artifact is not an archetype

I googled and then uploaded the archetype from the archetype-catalog.xml from the below link

https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/archetype-catalog.xml

and then tried creating the maven web application. now also i am getting the same error with a small difference. below is the error.

Unable to create project from archetype [org.apache.maven.archetypes:maven-archetype-webapp:1.0 -> https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/archetype-catalog.xml]
The defined artifact is not an archetype

Is there anything i am missing to get this resolved. Please any body help. I need to create a Maven web Application

Thanks In advance.

Hi,

I am learning spring step by step from the link http://docs.spring.io/docs/Spring-MVC-step-by-step/part1.html

Here in step 1 itself they are asking us to build the developed applications using ant build tool. There is a folder called war in my application developed in eclipse IDE. below is my build script.

build.xml

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<project name="springApp" basedir="." default="usage">
<property file="build.properties"/>

<property name="src.dir" value="src"/>

<welcome-file-list>
<welcome-file>index.jsp</welcome-file>
</welcome-file-list>
</web-app>

when i run ant all the echo messages are shown in the command prompt.

But when i run "ant deploy", its creating a classes folder alone in the war folder. Its not copying web.xml to war folder. Also in the deploy target it is scripted to move the app to the tomcat/webapps folder. The same is also not done.but it says BUILD SUCCESSFUL.

I am confused as why the web.xml is not copied to the war folder.

Thanks in advance

Hi Rob,

My requirement is to use Jboss EAP 4.3 CP10 only. Please help me in assigning the proper home directory for jboss-eap-4.3.CP10 in Eclipse luna. I am not able to proceed further. If you could help me with steps and screen shots, it would be great.

Hi Bear,

Thanks for your info.

But i have seen that link and i could not under stand the things in that link. Actually it generates the keys and it has been displayed in the another web page. but what i want is how it is used in Certificate Management system. It would be more helpful if you give me some examples(source codes) where i could see the real thing of keygen(any validation)

Thanks. in advance
