As far as I know, Oracle has no plans at this time to cancel the 1Z0-817, so you're safe.  They only retired the 815/816 exams.

Thank you Scott

I'm a certified Java Programmer (OCPJP 6) and I'm currently preparing for my Java 8 exam.
I'm using the Oracle Certification guide : Oracle Certified Professional Java SE 8 Programmer Exam 1Z0-809 that my friend and I bought from Amazon.
Initially my plan was to upgrade from Java 6 to 8 with this exam : 1Z0-813 but I couldn't find the material to prepare for it so then I settled for : 1Z0-813  exam guide.
I planned to finish the book and target the topics that are covered in the upgrade exam but now I'm thinking maybe the style is not the same with these 2 exams and I may not get the best of the upgrade exam from this exam guide.

My question is : will I be able to prepare thoroughly for the upgrade exam : 1Z0-813 using this study guide or should I just write the 1Z0-813 exam?

Thanks,
Sli

Thank you, so much Jeanne.

I realized that I made a mistake though, in line 2. of class B, it is not

2. public void doIt(){

but:

public A doIt(){

and in that case, the correct answer is C

-and now I feel blonde (no pun intended.)
Hi everyone,

In the SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 6 (Exam 310-065) Practice exam, Question 13:

Which statement is true about the classes and interfaces in the exhibit?

1. public interface A{
2. public void doSomething(String thing);
3. }

1. public class AImpl implements A{
2. public void doSomething(String thing){}
3. }

1. public class B{
2. public void doIt(){
3. //more code here
4. }
5.
6. public String execute(){
7. //more code here
8. }
9. }

1. public class C extends B{
2. public AImpl doIt(){
3. //more code here
4. }
5.
6. public Object execute(){
7. //more code here
8. }
9. }

A. Compilation will succeed for all classes and interfaces.
B. Compilation of class C will fail because of an error in line 2.
C. Compilation of class C will fail because of an error in line 6.
D. Compilation of class AImpl will fail because of an error in line 2.

Answer: C

/*
The answer is C but when I try the code on my machine, I find that both C and B are true.
Did I miss something? Please help.
