Thank you Roel and Brian for talking through the solution. Had a good time reading your conversations.
Hello,

I have a database (using sql server) with a column (type nvarchar) with leading zeros.

I am trying to get the length of the values in the column without leading zeros. Also I am not allwed to edit the actual values in the database.

I have tried using CAST(Column name AS INT) but I keep running into the issue of how do I store the int value without disturbing the initial value and then get the lenght of the new integer value?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you
Just realized the error is looking for that base.v7 plugin, mentioned in the classpath file, but could not find it in the path.
Hi,

I have been assigned to re-build/troubleshoot a web based Java/JSP application and I do not have much experience with web development. So please bare with me and if possible help me understand the errors.

The application is combination of Java and JSP form hosted on IBM WebSphere and talks to some other server application when the form is submitted.

I tried importing the Java/JSP client side application onto Eclipse as Java EE project and when I try to compile the program, these are the errors I am receiving :

[Errors]
1) Target runtime was.base.v7 is not defined (this error is defined under 'Faceted project problem'). I am not sure what does this error mean and what actions/research I need to do to resolve it?
2) Unbound classpath container:'JRE System Library[ApplicationName]'. I googled this error and tried steps here http://blog.webagesolutions.com/archives/538 but did not get me anywhere ?

[/Errors]

Any help or hints to point me in right direction is appreciated.

Thank you
To answer my own question .. I found where in the code the link for context path is defined.

Thanks for the reply Bear.

So when I click Submit, the data is being sent to some web application (defined by the context path) . Is that correct ?

If so, should the context path be defined (as in what web application to send data to if it is something other than fred.war ) somewhere in the code?

Hello,

I am trying to understand a piece of JSP code and have gone through a few tutorials. But I am having hard time understanding what the following line of code trying to do.

My understanding is the current form (called appForm) is taking some action upon clicking a submit button.

But what is this action doing ?

In other words what is and is trying to do?

I was able to figure it out using Netbeans. File->New Project ->Enterprise Applicaiton with Existing Sources.
I have been assigned to update an existing ear project and when I try to import the project into eclipse : File ->import ->Java EE -> EAR file -> Browse EAR Project , the eclipse is selecting individual files instead of the whole ear project.

Question:
1. How can I import the complete ear project?

I really appreciate your help.

Thank you
Thank you so much Rob. I knew it had to be something simple but just could not figure out what it was.

I really appreciate it.

Hello Everyone,

I have run into into some weird runtime error. I have a json data file that I am trying to parse into my code . I am using json-simple-1.1.1.jar external library that I have added to my classpath and verified that it exists there by doing echo $CLASSPATH.

When I compile my code using javac codeTest.java the program compiles with no issues .

But when I try to run the program using java -classpath . codeTest I am receiveing the error : java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jason/simple/parser/ParseException.

I have opened the json-simple-1.1.1.jar folder and verified that ParseException.class does exist in the folder.

If I run the code without the class path (i.e. java codeTest) then I am receiving "could not find or load main class codeTest", which is expected.

Please help me troubleshoot this.

Thank you
