Hello,
Does Servlet API contain any methods to add parameter to querystring?
I have a situation where I should add key=value-pair to request that I am forwarding from one servlet to another.
How can this kind of thing be handled?
There are no request.setParameter or response.setParameter methods or I did not find them. And using request.setAttribute does not work in this case.
Is it possible to do a own new request and fill it with a new key=value-pair?
Can anyone help me?
Thanks,

Are there any plug-ins that can be used to integrate Forte 4 to JBoss 3.0.4?
.. and of course Open Source product.
Thanks,

Yeps, there is no 'quick documentation' that would
say straight that do not deploy your war-files to Tomcat's webapp-directory!
So, my "problem" was gone when I deployed wars to
Jboss's deploy-directory.
Yes, this sounds stupid but ... anyway

Hello,
I have a frame containing banner, navigation menu, body and footer.
Each of these has own jsp file.
I have some situation where banner, navigation menu and body should
be generated depending on user's selection from navigation menu.
My question is that what is the easiest way to generate navigation menu, banner and body depending on user's selection from navigation menu?

If you look from www.amazon.com (search word: Websphere) you can find two WAS 4.x books and
and WAS 5 (coming next year) book.
I have read those WAS 4.x books and I myself like more that "bible" edition.

Are there significant cost difference between WLS and WAS? If not, I would myself stay in WLS 7.x.
Upgrading application from WLS 5 or 6 to WLS 7 is much easier than "porting" it to WAS 5.
Never used WAS 5, but WAS 7.x seems to work ok.

So, it's December 2002 now.
Did you find that Struts - WAS 4.x documentation
you mentioned?
.. or is it needed if WAS version is equal or greater than 4.0.2.

Hello, I'm running WAS 4.0.1.
I have created a Server group with an Application server and it's clone.
There is one thing that I don't understand:
If I want to change different System properties
(JVM settings) to Application server or clone,
it's not possible. They seems to have allways same properties ... Is this a bug?
I have understood that Application server and it's
clone will run in their own JVM so, nothing should
not prevent give them different system properties/
JVM setting from WAS admin console.
Is this fixed in WAS 4.0.3? Or are there any other ways to give different properties to application server and it's clone? Any place to issue command like java -DMyProperty=value1?
Thanks!

Hello all,
Is it possible to use JNDI based naming service (J2EE appserver's) as a storage for identifier variables for Singleton objects in J2EE based cluster?
I have a following problem:
- I have a cluster with 4 nodes
- Each node has a it's own singleton instance (per JVM in cluster)
- I need a identifier to give a "identity" to each singleton instance In this way each singleton instance could read data from
database and cache it. Purpose is, that identifier would be also a primary key in database. In this way each singleton could read it's own group of data from database, so I would not need to do any synchronization between singleton instances (each singleton would
contain different data, that accpeted in my case).
The question is:
Is it possible to use JNDI/naming servive as "temporary storage" for those identifiers? Identifiers should be read every time when all the nodes in the cluster are booted. They should also be marked as used so,
that only one singleton would use it's own id.
When the cluster is rebooted those ids should be available again.
If I thing this problem with database technique, the problem is to "mark" ids as free when nodes in the cluster are rebooting...
can JNDI handle this better?
Thanks
Are there any command that would get name of the current active node/clone (etc. {current node} )?
The purpose is to ask that command from a clustered web application running in cluster, not from command prompt.

Hello,
I found a good article containing information about WAS nodes and clones.
Distinguishing WebSphere clones at URL:
http://www106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/it/it-0801art30/
Article contains also some code snippets that I need. The problem is that code snippets are for WAS 3.5 related and I would like to get it work in WAS 4.x.
Does anyone know how to port it?
Especially classes below (If I remember right)
have changed.
- ServletEngine
- ServletEngineInfo
- TransportInfo

I tried that, it does not support clustering at all. It's a single server version ....

Hello,
Can anyone point me a link where to download
trial version of WAS 4.x Advanced Edition?
Like to test clustering features.
