Hi!
I found a tricky way to resolve the asynchonous update. We invoke a servlet dispatcher ( controller ), then a transaction ( model ) and finally before forward to the next jsp ( view) , we check ( in the controller ) whether the transaction need a response.
The code is:
if(strRedirectPage.equals("none"))
response.setStatus(204);
else {
response.setStatus(300);
System.out.println("\n forward to: /" + strRedirectPage);
servletContext.getRequestDispatcher("/" + strRedirectPage).forward(request, response);
}
Check the status related to HttpServletResponse. http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/2.1/api/javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse.html
Hope it help and best wishes, A.Perdomo.

Hi! Could you send me the question? We had some problems considering
asyncronous update from servlets/jsp and ejb. But, I can't remember exactly
the question.
Thanks, A.Perdomo.

Subject: Regarding asynchronous submit question in JavaRanch

Hi!
Read your question about how to perform an asynchronous update. I need this
feature also. Have you implemented this? If so, could you briefly tell me
how?

Hi
I have many problems, first, I can't run the most simple applet in WSAD. First question:
Where need deploy the applet in the .ear? web or client? There is some tricky in wsad?
Another thing, I was expecting use an applet to connect over iiop to an stateful bean. But now, I see that is needed a plug-ins for the browser (WAS 4.0) ( great problem ), so I am thinking desist about that. Where can I find information about applet container etc, and applet design? In wich side live the applet container?
Thanks, so much. A.Perdomo.

I have a big problem because I can't run an applet( the more simple applet) in WSAD. I have to deploy the applet in web component? or in client jar?
My applet run very well, in VAJ, Tomcat, etc, etc. The problem is WSAD. There is some tricky?
Now, I desist to the Client J2EE facilities, my applet will be invoking a servlet.
Thank so much. A.Perdomo

Thanks Dave, good answer and very useful to me.
Now, anybody knows if there is the Weblogic analogous to WAS?

Check Java Servlet Programming, O'Reilly, Jason Hunter.
There, I found very usefull code to implement a file transfer process. But following that experience, maybe you must consider another way to do that as MQ.

A.Perdomo.
Let me try to understand, when you say:
"It should provide ",
that's a specification to CTM? The Bean developer, hasn't to worry for HA? ( Without consider the particular characteristics of app server )
"and what it will 'cost' for example replication, etc"
This "cost" is supported by app_server code or Always, I need to consider a replication code in my design , when I choose a Stateful bean? ( I know about "cost": performance, network resource, etc )
I am agree with you about check the documentation. But, I am trying to understand basic concepts.
Thanks, A.Perdomo.
Hello !
What happen if I have a Stateful bean in a cluster environment, and some clone or cluster fail? The conversational state of this object is replicated every time? Or?
I am worry about another thing. I am always trying to design to be independent browser, but my customers every time want more functionalities in the browser as menu (not simple menu ), etc, etc. Every time more clients know about the possibilities of Explorer over Netscape. How you manage this requirement? There is the posibilities of Microsoft don't give a support to javascript in future versions? Why others companies as IBM, are not worry about the browsers future?
The last question is not exactly about J2EE. If you consider that desviate the focus of this saloon, forget it.
Thanks, A.Perdomo.
Hi everybody,
I need submit my form data, without refresh ( or reload ) the jsp. Any Idea? I am trying to do an asynchronous update. Is that possible?
