I tried working on it tonight but I am not figuring it out - any suggestions?

Hello,
Something weird is going on with my code. After entering a phrase(named phrase) in one Atextfield and then a valid filename in another Atextfield (named filename), clicking the rightAction button named "read" puts values in another two ATextFields (one for X coordinate and one Y for y coordinate) it enters a value into each like "655360" automatically - I think it even replaces what ever number is in there. (I can't even describe it well)
Can someone tell me what's going on here?
here is the code

note: I did take out the backslashes in ("c:" + filename.getText()); to prevent it from being one big comment
Thanks

Hello,
I am looking for the syntax for a drop down menu. Something like "file name:" and then a drop down list of about 6 or 7 names to choose from. Any suggestions?

Hello all,
I am having difficulty understanding how to make an app with statis void main. here are my instructions (And then my code - should I go to the Intermediate Forum? please let me know - this may be easy but I am knew to Java blah blah blah)

Create an Application from this Class
Add the method to this class to make it an application.
Within this method, instantiate an new object.
If there are any parameters provided on the command line when the application is started, use the parameters to prefill the list of String values.
Test your work. You can either test this using BlueJ and providing a array aggregate value, or using a command prompt and invoking the application using the following:

Hey Joe!!
I was just curious if there was another way of writing it - I saw a classmate's code and it looks every bit like mine... we do have explicit instructions but....
I can see what you mean though
How are you doing?

Hi folks - an update on my saga - I have in fact got somewhere - at least no syntax errors but it is not working - I need help.
I cant get anything to display from clicking any of the 3 buttons one which saves the string values and prints the number of entries- one that takes those saved values and displays them in the window and one that discards the items. If I can get the first two I think I could get the last. If anyone is wondering: ALabel is just llike JLabel or Label

Thanks

(I have been able to get to this point)
I am to create a method that displays what has been entered in a textfield("input" below - the "X-items" is a list of ten ie. String [] storage = new String[10];
input = new ATextField(125,400,150,25);
input.place(win);
input.setFontSize(12);
This is what I am having trouble with - how to get the input of (up to) 10 items in JLabel
>>>>HERE IS WHAT I CAME UP WITH>>>
String labelText = "";
for (int i = 0; i < storage.length; i++) {
labelText += storage[i];
}
But it "Can't resolve symbol" in the second line....
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry - yes they are just like JLabels or Labels (text to be displayed in the window).... I am using a custom library(?) from Riley - example: http://www.jinguji.net/course/csc142/alibrary/ALabel.html
